Last week I mentioned that the vet said Peanut's vision is getting blurry and it's the equivalent of us needing bifocals so I said that Peanut needs kitty bifocals. Someone asked what kitty bifocals were, so here are pictures of kitty bifocals.

At first Peanut fought the idea of needing bifocals - just like we all do. Her daddy got her a lovely pair, but she still wanted nothing to do with the idea.

However, she reluctantly became accustomed to the idea that if she was going to see her treats, the bifocals were necessary.

Her daddy realized the pair he got were a little big for her, and we're now searching for a more appropriately sized pair. ;) :D

Awwwww! How cute! I think they look nice, however maybe she'll want ones that fit a little snugger so they don't fall off. LOL

Oh Peanut, you look so sophisticated and don't worry, Auntie Slick has bifocals too. Wearing glasses shows a certain "maturity" that can't be beat. Look at it this way, maybe Tubby will leave you alone now.

You are kidding, right? I'm not sure! I saw a candid camera where the vet fitted various pets for glasses (dogs mostly) and the owners were giggling and appalled- you ARE kidding, right?

The Gokd thing, about Cats,is that thier sight,is not nearly,as important,to them,as it is to us,as they have much better snse of smell, and feel! So she will find her treats as Scrappy Magoo, does!

Thanks everybody! :D :D

Leslie, I'm kidding about getting her bifocals, but I'm not kidding about the part where the vet said her eyes are going. I guess it's common in older cats. The way the vet explained it was that the cornea keeps growing, and since the eye doesn't continue to grow, there's no place for it to go, so her eyes are starting to get cloudy. I guess I had noticed this but always thought it was the reflection of the light - you know, like when the flash goes off? He said it's similar to us needing bifocals. She would have a tougher time seeing close up things - like treats - squirrels and chipmunks that are further away she can see no problem. Again, we had noticed this in her, but didn't realize it was really her eyes. We thought she just wasn't paying attention when we threw the chicken to her.

My baby's getting old, but it seems I'm right along with her. Maybe one of these days I'll admit it...... ;) :D

Oh, and the pair of bifocals that were used for the photo shoot are her daddy's. We didn't really go out and buy her a pair. ;)

I'm wondering if they can do eye laser surgery on animals the way they do on us?

Peanut: the best of us wear bifocals and have decided to look now sophisticated instead of cute:p

And I agree with Gary: you will know your way around purrfectly even with less eyesight. The cat of my tax consultant, Penelope, got blind at about 18 years and lived another 2 years. She knew everything and even could dominate young Hermes, about 4 years:D
