Mr Remus was playing big protector kitty a couple of days ago. There is this big orange tabby male that has decided to camp in front of our door. Remus did not like this. So I spent the night trying to make sure he didn't claw through the window screen  . This kitty *we've nicknamed him orange slice* looks well fed and cared for, except he is really dirty like he has been outside for a while now *although it HAS been raining lately and it gets pretty muddy around here* He is HUGE, Im guessing at least 20 lbs and he is solid as a rock. Most kitties have at least a little flab but he has none, he is just one big muscle . Is this healthy? He seems awfully stiff though. He wasn't hungry when I tried to feed him so I think his owner lives either in our complex or in the one next to us. Either that or he is a really good hunter. I don't want him getting into a fight with Remus...I know Remus would get his kitten butt handed to him! I feel bad for shooing this cat away but I don't want him to get attached or anything. If he comes around a lot, I'm probibly going to catch him *He is friendly, and accepts head scritches and comes if you call him* and either take him to the shelter or see if someone around us claims him. I hope he has an owner somewhere, it seems like he is way to friendly to be wild.

It is SO dangerous where we live, our complex being on a main street and all. I wish people would have the common sense to leave the cats INSIDE!

I would be afraid to let this kitty come in contact with Remus too, especially if Remus hasn't had all his shots yet. Hopefully his owner will start taking care of him. Remus sounds so funny - kittens never realize how small they are. Sophie takes on Tito all the time - but she always loses because he's almost 3 times her weight!!

Sounds to me like a great way to meet your neighbors. I'd catch him and carry him door-to-door to find out who he belongs to. (Ask the neighborhood kids, they always know where the pets belong). That way you could make sure his shots are up-to-date in case he still wants to hang around your place (obviously the word is out that you love animals). I'd let the owner know that he likes to visit you and ask them if that's okay with them. He's obviously well fed -- heck he might belong to several families and they're all feeding him. Kitties are smart. You have been chosen!

I agree with Kuhio ... I would walk the neighborhood a bit and try to find his owners, maybe that will convince them to keep him inside! Good luck!;)

Hmm what about possibly taking him to a vet to see if he has a chip, or calling a no kill shelter to see if they can pick him up.

If I see him lol! This cat is friendly in phases...he will hang around and be a shadow with hair for a week then disapear for a month  . Maybe he lives in the neighborhood close by...there are a LOT of people near me *four apartment complexes and a big neighborhood* so he could have come from anywhere poor guy. Im thinking of taking a pic of him and posting some flyers around the neighborhood to see if anyone knows who he belongs to.

Im going to call the shelter to see if they can scan for a chip too.
