We had 4th of July over at my sister's house. She's not a dog person, so normally I wouldn't bring any of the dogs with me. But I knew I'd be gone around 8 hours and there's just no way Gully could hold it that long yet, so he went with me. I left Murph and Oz with peanut butter filled kongs, so they both seemed happy enough to spend the day lounging in the a/c. So there's only pics of Gully from yesterday.

Gosh, I just love this dog. He's turning out to be every bit as wonderful as Murph and Oz. Course I'll admit to being undeniably biased. He just did so awesome yesterday. He wasn't allowed in the house, so he had to spend a lil' time by himself in the backyard. No barking or whining... No tearing anything up... He just laid by the back door, until I came back outside. My sister finally admitted as far as dogs go, he's not half bad.

He did pretty good with the kids too. No jumping up on them. Calmly let them pet him. Although at first he wanted to bark at them, when they were running around and squealing. I think it may have triggered some herding instinct. I finally spritzed him with some water and he was fine after that. Him and Kyle, my lil' nephew, were getting along great. He was following Kyle everywhere he went. Kyle just loves dogs. Too bad he'll have to grow up without one. Well except for his cousins, Murph, Oz and Gully. :)

Here's one of my Grandmother petting him. She thinks he's ugly, but she admitted personality wise, she thinks he's a sweetheart. Towards the end of the day, out of nowhere, he went right up to her, and looked her straight in the eye and barked one time. Didn't do that to anybody else. I think he was trying to make a point about that ugly comment. ;)

He's just nutty over plastic cups. I think I'm going to start shopping at Crate and Barrel for him vs. Petsmart.;)

Par, my mom also has a "thing" for Smooth Collies saying that they look "ugly". I, for one, can't believe someone would ever say such a thing!

Your Gully is a charmer, and a beautiful boy at that. :D Maybe it's a Collie thing.. because Molly was never a big chewer/digger/etc. and was sort of layed back when it came to that.

You should get some pictures of all three of your boys together... *hint, hint* :D

Thanks for sharing! Great pictures!

In my eyes he's just gorgeous, and utterly cute and irresistable to boot. I really can't look at any dog and see ugliness, but like anyone there are some that particularly catch my eye and collies, both smooth and rough, are one of those for me.

My Cody was a bit of a chewer till he was 2 or 3, especially plastic things. He chewed up the garden hose, a couple plastic buckets, and some of my stuffed animals among other things . Willie was never much of a chewer. Both of them would scrape the ground or carpet with their claws when settling down for bed, but neither ever just dug holes just to dig. I think overall they were pretty low on the destructive scale.

Tasha was a terror as a pup. She was the first pup I had who ruined pieces of furniture. Tommy was worse about soft things like laundry, socks, slippers, hats :p.

Thanks for sharing the pics of Gully, he's precious!

lol I think she just does not like the look of smoothies. I know I used to think smooth BCs were the ugliest things ever, and I was hoping with all my might that misty would NOT be a smoothie, but she was the smoothies won my heart! I would take a smooth BC over a rough any day. but Collie I have never met a smoothie and as far as collies go I dont find smoothies very attractive at all(no offence) but if I met one that in all likleyhood would change.

anyway the pictures are VERY nice :p Misty is the only photo ham in my house the others run when the camera comes out lol

Thanks y'all!!! I, of course, think he's beautiful, but I don't really get too upset if others don't. Being a scruffy dog person, I wasn't all that attracted to Collies, before I got Oz and Gully. Although I never went so far as to think they were ugly. Now I think Collies, both Rough and Smooth are the most gorgeous dogs around.

In my Grandmother's case, it's not so much that he's a Smooth that she doesn't like. She actually carries a picture around of Oz to show to friends, she thinks he's so gorgeous. With Gully it's the smaller, different colored eyes and the splotchy color look on his face that she doesn't like. She doesn't care for the scruffy dog look either, so never really thought Murph or Maddie were cute. To her the most beautiful dog ever is a Toy Fox Terrier. Ah, to each his own.

As to the proud, you guys have no idea. I was soooooo worried about him those first couple of weeks. Looking back though, I realize now it was all about me and missing Maddie. Once I adjusted and we started bonding, everything kind clicked into place. He's turning out to be very similar to Oz. I really can't imagine easier puppyhoods to deal with than Collies actually.

Took a couple pics of Oz and Murph this morning:
