Can Ginger Cats Be Female?

My wife is a total cat woman. We have 3 already which she adores and she wants a new one for Christmas. She wants a ginger kitten. Someone told me that all ginger cats are male. Is this true? :(

we have a tortoishell, and she's a real person cat, and easily the best in terms of temperament with our 3 year old lad.

As for getting a ginger female, I've since been told you can get them but they are rare. Any more info/advice ?

I have a little orange girl and believe me she's all personality! Wouldn't have it any other way...
