Hernia. :( When Elvis had a vet appt last Wednesday, our veternarian discovered Elvis had a very small herina. It's not something to worry about he said, but me i'm just hope he's okay. He pushed it back in "I guess". But when Elvis gets neutered he is gonna check on it.

Also. Our vet suggested we wait till Elvis is at least 6 months old before we neuter him. Because we wanted to get it done. (see my thread in dog health) Because he said that male puppies need this hormone to mature or something. So I guess we have to wait which sucks.

yeah, so even though this hernia thing was small, please hope it stays that way.

(Can anyone explain to me what a hernia actually is? I had a hard time understanding it the way our vet was.)

Oh yeah! Yesterday we took Elvis to PETS SUPPLIES PLUS and it was his first time to be around strange people and animals. He did absolutly GREAT! He walked so nicely on the leash beside me. Although he kept trying to jump in the pile of toys, that was out. haha silly boy. He was prolly thinking "Oh boy! This must be heaven!" :D My mom says that since Elvis did so great we can keep taking him up there when I have more money. Yay!

Gigi has a rather big hernia and she was spayed at 6 months. I was worried too, but it's not that bad. ;) Easy for me to say now. haha... Anyway, I think hernia is when the umbilical cord not healing properly?

Piddle also had a hernia from the cord, on his belly button and also had it removed when he was neutered, no problems :)

The hernia didn't bother her (I don't think)... it does nothing... just there. It was fixed when she was spayed. She is looking hot now. haha... (hot dog!) Sorry for being silly. :o

Aww poor Elvis, yeah we have quite a few pups with umbillical hernias come in and they usually do wait to fix them when spayed/neuterd. Since they're there and won't have to do multiple surgeries. There can be different hernias and I'm not saying this is the full complete answer but basically hernias are where there is like a tear (I guess you would say) in the under layer of the skin allowing for part of the inside to kinda slip out, big ones are more of a worry but small ones they don't seem to worry too much about, they just keep an eye on em. :) I hope that makes sense... lol

Molly had a big hernia when she was younger, and we too got it removed when we got her spayed. She's fine now... :)

Elvis is sooo cute! :) He doesn't even look like the same doggie with that hair cut.

Elvis is a cutie!

My cat Chance had a hernia when he was a kitten. The vet removed it when he was neutered. Chance was a-okay. :)

Oh he's so adorable!! :D

I think you should get him spayed at 6 months as well. The vet and Mickey's breeder both recommended it as the best age to get it done. :) Hopefully something can be done for his hernia.

Max had a hernia as a puppy, as well. The vet fixed it when we had him neutered.

Now don't worry yourself. Roxey also had a hernia when she was a puppy (it was taken care of before I brought her home) and she's never had any problems. So I'm just sure Elvis will be just fine:D

The pictures were adorable and I'm glad that he did so good at the store!

I don't really know much about Hernia's, but from reading all the posts it sounds like he will probably be ok. His new collar is really cute! :) I'm glad Elvis did good at the store, I can just imagine Major, he'd be a HORRIBLE little devil!
