How long should the average puppy spend in it's cage?

I know dogs like to have time to themselves and I want to make sure Elvis has that time.

thanks:)

Well, my boys just get time to themselves whenever they choose. The crate is always unlocked and the dog bed is always there so they just go in and sleep on it as they choose.

as far as I know the rule of thumb is the puppys age equals the max amount of time they can stay in a crate (4 months equals max of 4 hours without potty break) but what I did was my puppys had desiganted naptimes when they were put into a pen or crate for a nap, like 1-2 hours or so is what I did.

Same here.

Since I have 2 young dogs they do get a bit too rowdy sometimes and I will finally have them both go to their crates to take a break and then I will shut the doors.
