Freckels pointed me to this story, and wanted to share it with all of you, especially Jasper's mom:

What a wonderful story! Jasper's Mom we are are all hoping that you have the same happy ending and that you won't need to wait nearly as long as Gumby did to be reunited with her "mommy."

How cool, Karen!! I'm so glad you shared that. I wish I could hope the same for my long, lost Shrimp Boat, but I think it has been a bit too long now (12 years, and she was 6 when it happened). Oh well, happy endings are always so nice! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif Thanks for giving us the link.

Wow! What a nice story, thank you for starting my day off on a wonderful note. I lost a cat about 8 years ago, so I guess it is possible that Oopee may return!

Thanks so much Karen for posting the amazing story of the return of Gumby. How unlikely a reunion after all that time and all those miles between them. I am overwhelmed. I was surprised to see it was in the Gresham Outlook, since Gresham, Oregon is just down the hill from Sandy, Oregon, where I used to live for eight years. Although their rescue facility is very new, I have visited the old one many years ago. My dog Sandy is named in part for Sandy, Oregon, and there was also a story about the Sandy River. Like old home week.

I am so very happy for Gumby and his mom. I would only wish for my Jasper, a return home that is nearly not so long. At least with being on an island, he cannot get as far away. I heard of a lady that was reunited with her cat here after two years. There is hope and I need to remember that. I look every day at the pictures in my room of Jasper, his favorite mouse and his treat can, missing him and wanting him home. There is hope and I need to remember that. Thank you so much for the story and words of encouragement.

Reading this story last night, I couldn't help but think of Toot, who has been gone 5 years next month. In fact, I dreamed about him last night, but it wasn't a warm and fuzzy dream because in it he disappeared again. I still look for him after all these years, although, of course, not as earnestly.
