I try to cut Foxy's nails once a week. How often do you cut your dogs nails??

Usually twice a month.

Whenever I think about it. At least once a month, but it's usually more often than that.

I also trim Rebel and Claire's once a week. I never cut them short enough but that's b/c I can't see the quick (Rebel's nails are black and Claire's are chocolate) and I don't want to cut them too short. lol Plus I like to have them used to having it done. I also file them too, at least once a week. :)

Foxy's nails are black aswell which makes it a little harder to cut them, but i try to cut them so they are not touching the grounds when he's walking.

Whenever I give them a bath, which is every week. Sometimes every 2 weeks if they don't need it that week.

That's a good idea Kay, keeps them in routine! :D

gkristian, that's kinda what I try to do as well, great idea. :D

At work they tell people to file them and that helps to make the quicks get shorter and so I am hoping that that will happen.

I cut them about every 2 weeks, or a little before. Alex isn't really good about it, he whines and acts like I'm hurting him, even if the clippers aren't touching his nails:rolleyes: But he puts up with it anyway.:)

About once a month or so. Neither of mine are very tolerant of it, and I dread it everytime. :p I think they sense my fear, and I wish I could hide it more.

Every three weeks. After I cut them I usually file them a little so that they are smoother. I don't worry when I do Bella because her nails are light colored and I can see the quick. When I first got Ripley his nails were VERY long and they are black. I have been taking just the tips off because I am afraid that the quick has grown way down. I did make him bleed once and I felt just awful. He has learned to trust me again though but I still don't think he feels very comfortable with the whole idea. :)

Thanks for reminding me! I always forget and probably don't do it enough :(.

I don't have a regular schedule.. I just clip them when I notice they need it :o

I should get into a routine though. Tasha keeps her own nails down somewhat on her own. :)

About every 1-2 weeks or as needed. I try to keep them as short as possible.

brock is a poo head and his quick never seems to receed! so I cut them every few days to keep them from getting too long.

I usually clip Charlie's nails once a month or so, when I notice him click-clicking on the tile.... which reminds me I think today's the day! hehe Arhur gets done every couple weeks or so, his nails seem to grow pretty fast. I don't think I've ever cut Chloe's nails. She's like her mom - a nail biter! :) She's had the habit since we got her and I've never been able to break her of it, but then no one has been able to break me of it either. hehehe

I'm another one who does it when the "click clicking" gets too annoying. Or when I notice they're starting to curve downward, whichever comes first.

That's for Jake.

Max . . . . he's a different story. It takes 3 vet techs, multiple scratches and some nearly broken bones, and $20.00 to do his. So - we're lucky he kind of wears them down on his own.
