Any country music fans out there?? I "met" CountryWolf07 in another thread and was SO hard not to hijack it:D I may be getting older but not dead:D I was born in Texas and raised on anything country and still just LOVE it. My daydreams take me back to sawdust covered floors and cute cowboys in tight jeans with Skoal circles in their back pockets and pickup trucks and rodeos and ahh!!!!! Well, I am 49 and have three grown kids but *nothing* soothes and energizes me like my country music. I have one skinkid - my oldest who loves it as well. Daughter Missy gags and really wants to barf when hubby and I dance in the kitchen!!:D :D (the kitties ALL love my music!! :D)
My favorites right now are Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts....some of the newer artists are growing on me - Julie Roberts for one, Chely Wright. Nobody wll replace Willie Nelson or George Strait!!! I LOVE country videos. Absolute favorites are "Remember When" ahhh!!! and "One Hot Mama" :D for laughs because I think this is really how hubby thinks!!

I like some country music.

I like all the music of Faith Hill, and I like Sheryle Crow "The first cut is the deepest" and I like that new song called "somebody" by Reba McEntire, pretty good stuff. :)

Sheryl Crow seems to be crossing over into country and I hope she keeps it up. The duet she did with Kid Rock - "Picture" was fabulous. Kid Rock is such wasted talent I think. I saw Crow and Willie Nelson do a few duets and they were amazing!! Kid Rock and Bocephus are doing some country as well but no recordings that I know of - he (Kid) is MUCH better at country than his trash IMO - he actually has a rich and gritty voice!!

Hmm not a really big fan. I do have a weak spot for Tim McGraw's, Don't Take the Girl. Gr - even typing the words chokes me up, lol. And I think the Dixie Chick lead singer has the voice of an absolute angel. Beautiful. I like Shania Twain :). And Picture is one of my favorite songs....But that's about it :)

I never liked country when I was growing up...I hated it...could not stand it.....NOW I LOVE IT!!!!

My office is in an old cinder block building and we do not get many radio stations so country was the only one that would come in really well...and I fell in love with the music.

Some of my favorite male artists are Tim McGraw I saw him 2 times....I had floor seats for his second show and let me tell you.....he is hot!!!!! Faith Hill is one lucky woman;)

Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Montgomery Gentry

I like the Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride, Shania Twain (saw her in concert as well...I had to bring a drool bucket for hubby) and Reba.

I love the new song out by Gretchen Wilson....Redneck Women!!!! Hubby just rolls his eyes when I sing it to him.

We have more country artists coming and playing around my area now that the Mohegan Sun Casino has the Arena, a 10,000 seat venue and the artists seem to love it. Martina has been 3 times, Tim McGraw 3 times. Reba is coming and so is Alan Jackson with Martina. Toby Keith came and said he wanted to come back during the summer but he decided to play at Gillett Stadium in Mass (where the NE Patriots play football) and that for me is just toooooo far to go.

Aha! admit it! You ARE a fan!:p "Don't Take the Girl" chokes me up too, lots of country is so moving and down to earth - tearful at times. Shania Twain's "Forever and For Always" is so sweet - that and Alan Jackson's "Remember When" are so appropriate to hubby and I. Another song that gets me choked is "When Tough Little Boys" - Gary Allan I thnk? - because my oldest - 26 year old, is about to have his firstborn:D

There's only two country songs that I can deal with or stand.
Tim Mcgraw - Don't take the girl
and
Garth Brooks - Thunder Rolls

Anything other that is headaching. :p
I was tortured by the radio stations in Tennesee-Kentucky (in my trip to Ohio) by them not playing ANYTHING other than country. It was horrible and I had a horrible headache.

I like Country Music, and my 13 year old daughter, LOVES it! We have a neat, new radio station here, that specializes in "positive Country music" and Christian music. They go back and forth, constantly, between the two. Helen likes to listen to that station (makes her mom happy too).

A couple of years ago, we went to the "Girls Night Out" concert, and got to see Reba, Martina McBride, Jamie O'Neal, Sarah Evans and one other girl (can't remember her name right now). I had seen Martina in a private concert a couple of years before at the Grand Ole Opry when I was attending a convention there. We like Alan Jackson, Toby Keith (Helen saw him in concert with her dad), Kenny Chesney, and many more!

The only kind of music I can't stand is Rap and Hard Rock. But otherwise, I'm pretty diverse!

That sounds great!! One good thing about country is that most of it does tend to be wholesome but I see that changing now. (Dwight Yoakum for example) Bocephus, though I like him is raunchy. I guess I should not admit I love "One Hot Mama" but love that it shows how my hubby sees me:D I also don't like the honky tonk stuff much. Prefer the ballads and feel good music - female vocals and soft country soothers. Seems many country artists are Christian and patriotic (yeah well...) which I also admire. OH! I totally forgot AKUS!!! Anyone like them??? I don't think ANY female vocalist can top Allison Krause!!!

Just wondering, I know you must all be too young, but do you remember, or know of, a song called
"Della and the dealer (a dog named Jake and a cat called Kalamazoo)"

Chorus
If that cat could talk what a tales he'd tell
about Della and the dealer and the dog as well
But the cat was cool and he never said a mumbling word.

I heard it for the first time in ages the other day. :D

Now my son, that's all he likes to listen to is country music. When he is here at my house, that is all he downloads to my computer is all country! That boy of mine is really big country music fan.

Is Uncle Cracker country? I love all his songs.

Kay, next time you come through Tennessee, put your radio station on 94.9 or 107. 5, They don't play country music.;) There are some more, but I can't think of them.

I have about 200 CD's now. I get them all on half.com. It's a great site to find cheap Cd's.

I'm a techno/rap DJ...by all logic I should barf when I hear anything resembling country...

But I don't

When I was growing up my dad always listend to George Jones and Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty and all those old dinosaur country people ugh. Mom listend to the newer stuff, thats where I started to like Reba and the Judds *saw them in concert for the reunion tour, really cool!* and Allen Jackson, and Garth Brooks *I LOVE Garth Brooks*. I saw Vince Gill in concert once too, he was pretty awesome. I agree that Kid Rock should drop the whole punk rap rock act *rap rock is dead people, let it go* and use his talent for what it is. I also like the country/Christan crossover stuff...it is so uplifting! At first I was like "Ugh, feel good fluff bunny garbage" and mom INSISTED I sit and watch the Gathers on PBS and I actually took a liking to it. Yeah yeah, Im younger than 40 and I admit I like the Gathers.

Oh wow, where do I start? I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC. I drive my family and friends crazy though because every time a song comes on I name the singer and the title of the song before the DJ says it. I always ask everyone who it is too. I like the new country a lot too. I don't really like Julie Roberts though. I love Reba McEntire ( she doesn't sing as much anymore since her show "Reba", but she just put out " Somebody") I really like Loretta Lynn too. I really miss Garth Brooks. His songs could get to ya. Especially " The Dance" . I love Dierks Bentley too.. I just ADORE his dog! Ok, I'll stop. I could talk about country music ALL DAY though.

BTW: I'm a big fan of Old Country too.. Classic Country.. EVERY KIND OF COUNTRY. Hmm.. there was something else I wanted to say, but I forgot. I guess I'll reply it later.:) ;)

Count me in as a country fan! I do listen to other kinds of music but generally country!

I really, really love Kenny Chesney. I LOVE the sound of his voice. I wanted to see him in concert very badly this summer, but I don't think I will be able to. Hopefully he will be on tour next summer.

I also like Lonestar. :) I was just reading an article about them and their children today. I also bought the Keith Urban CD quite recently. I am really enjoying it!

I also like Clay Walker's "I Can't Sleep." Some parts sort of, erm, bug me, but the song overall is good! :p

I have to say that George Strait has some great songs. I love his new one "Desperately."

I like the song "I Got A Feeling" also. I don't remember who sings it though. It is in the back of my mind. He did a great job, whoever it was! ;)

I could go on and on about what songs I like, so I guess I will stop here. I also like watching the videos on CMT.

I'm in too! I love country music. Lets see right now...I absolutely love Kenny Chesney. Great voice and songs. He is coming here but I missed out on my chance to get tickets. :( I love Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks and Martina McBride. Wow, what a powerhouse she is! Alden and I want to see her in concert so bad. I have only been to 2 country music concerts and I have to tell you they have been my favorites. Country artists seem so much more personable and friendly. Most concerts that I have been to in the past have been rock. Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Guns n Roses (maybe I should just say Axle), Kiss, AC/DC(WOW). The more older mainstays. They all put on awesome shows and I loved them, but recently I have seen the Dixie Chicks who are just so super talented and had one heck of a show and talked with the audience a bit more and then just a few weeks ago we saw Shania and wow does she really interact with the fans. I loved that and have never seen that before. She was right out there in the crowd chatting with the fans and bring some onstage and letting them sing with her. Giving autographs during her performance and taking in the gifts that people were handing her. Alden handed her a rose and was so thrilled that she actually touched his hand...lol. She really seems to appreciate her fans. I loved it!!!

One of these days I will see Martina and Kenny!!!!:D

I would like to say that I listen to all kinds of music. One of my all time favorites songs is Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon". I love to stay up to date on what younger folks are listening to also. I don't want to ever be considered old and out dated...hehehe. Its kind of hard though since there are so many artists out there now a days. I just love it all!

YES - me too!! I adore Country Music. Yep even the 'old' stuff!!

We don't get many artists coming over here to tour - apart from Shania who we saw in March - GREAT! They've even taken The Country Music channel off too - I really miss it so much.

I adore so many singers that you've all mentioned - also Hal Ketchum (notice any similarity between a certain cats name?! :D ), Bonnie Rait (yes I know she's not traditional country - but I adore her voice!), John Michael Montgomery, Clint Black but more than anyone - GARTH - we never got to see him in concert - I just wish he'd record again! My favourite song is 'The Dance' reduces me to tears every single time I hear it!

When we were in Vegas we found a wonderful Country Station on the car radio - it was so cool driving along singing away like a couple of kids - there's nothing so good here.

I'm jealous of you all seeing so many Country starts in concert = grrrrrrrrrr!:D

I tried to get Alan Jackson and Martina McBride tickets the day they went on sale and even though they are playing 2 dates here I could NOT get a single ticket.......WELL!!!!! I got 2 tickets I am so excited. The concert is Thursday, September 9 at 7:30 at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The lower mezzanine seats 1&2...this way I can stand up and dance all night long!!!!!!!!!!11

The Arena is such a great place for the artists. Even though it is 10,000 seats there is not a bad seat in the house. I called my husband to ask if he would go with me and I could not beleive he said SURE!!!!!

Sorry....I'm just so happy!!!!!

I've always been a Rocker...and even at age 46 I have not grown out of my love of screamin guitars and long haired guys...BUT... I do have a few country songs or artists I appreciate. Keith Urban is just a honey! I love 'Raining on Sunday'. Alan Jackson and Tim McGraw, I like. and I have a soft spot for Randy Travis (brings back some nice memories I think). Faith Hill is good too! Country music is not my first or even second choice(that would be Blues, ie; Stevie Ray Vaughan) to listen to, but I do give thumbs up to some of the newer stuff that is out now.

He is back from a long voice rest.. and I can't wait to see him again in August.. (3 times, possibly..)

He sings "What a Beautiful Day", "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out", "Laredo".. a few of the great tunes.. :D

This is him.. he is a VERY awesome guy!!

I can't believe how tiny Martina is and that VOICE - she also seems so sweet and real you know? And Alan also - a real person, nice as can be. So much talent in one night!

Let me start by saying this. I used to think country music was OK. I liked some songs, but I was more into rock/pop. My brother Thomas is a hardcore country music fan, and when he went away to university last year, I missed him so much. I decided to start dedicating myself to country music. Now, I LOVE country music. But I also love more genres. For some odd reason, I really like Sarah Brightman. I'm not sure which genre her music would go into though. But back to the topic lol. I absolutely love country music, more of the newer stuff (past 5 years) but some of the older country songs too. Basically all the songs I hear I at least like, sometimes love. However, I still like my Evanescence, Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Blink 182 etc.

What makes me so mad is that everyone around here assumes I like the "normal" rock music. There are basically only 3 music stations here. (they also have news in them and such)

2 are country, but one is rock. Alot of people here listen to the rock one, and most people don't know about the second country one. So its basically 2 stations that you go by here. What makes me mad is that whenever we're doing something, (riding a school bus) the driver will be listening to the country one, but when the kids come on, he changes it to the rock one (nice driver, I know, but I would rather listen to country) There are alot more examples but I just can't think of them.. hmmmm But it always happens! And at the high school in Yorkton, they have Much Music on the TV in the commons area. WELLL I guess alot of people like it, but its ALWAYS on that channel. Why don't they put it on a good country channel, like CMT???? Lol that just makes me always wonder and be mad:mad:

Hmm.......I would definitely not fall into the "fan" catagory.

It is tolerable though. ;) I will listen to it if I must, it's not bad, it's just not what I really like.

Maybe this is just around here in Hicksville, but I swear if you are out in the middle of nowhere and you can only get one radio station to work it is ALWAYS country music. ALWAYS!!

Rachel you should pick yourself out a nice cowboy while you're here haha. ;) We can go visit Fairview hehehe.

Uh oh Kenny, TAKE IT EASY! He's suffering acute laryngitis.

“This kind of thing never happens to me… and I really thought I was gonna be okay. You get on that stage and you feel invincible, and you feed on the crowd’s energy… and the next thing you know, you’re waist deep. You have this rush from the fans, and you maybe don’t feel the pain, so you just keep goinjg – and then all of a sudden, you’re really hurt. As much as I love to cancel, I’d rather lose one date then create something that’s going to haunt me for the first part of this tour… which what you can run into if you don’t respect your physical limits. “

At this point, given how tightly scheduled the Guitars, Tiki Bars & A Whole Lot of Love Tour is, no word on whether or not his Wichita Falls, Texas show will be rescheduled, though tour promoter Louis Messina is doubtful. With four months of dates to go, caution is being exercised – and management is optimistic that Wednesday, June 9 in Phoenix will go on as scheduled. Details as available.

Amy, Melissa, Cassie, and I are supposed to see Kenny on Friday night (the 11th).. so who knows, this is still up in the air..

Kenny is supposed to perform on the 9th in Phoenix, the 10th in Nashville for Fan Fair (but who knows..), and Utah the 11th.

Since some people have mentioned some older country music, I missed out on seeing David Allen Coe this weekend. "You Never even Call Me By My Name" was one of my very first favorite country songs, when I first started listening to it in high school...only took me until college to findout who sang it and y the CD!

That sucks! Plus, you were going to be able to see him on my birthday. I was exicted. :p

Anyway, my mom and I went shopping for my birthday presents. I picked out some new CDs.
Billy Currington
George Strait
Mongomery Gentry

*hoping that a friend will give me the Lonestar CD*

But, I can't have them until my birthday. LOL!

Not only did he get Entertainer of the year, he also got the Male Vocalist award. I wanted Kenny to get that, too.

But, I have to admit, Toby Keith's, "Whiskey Girl" has grown on me.

:D Nah! She was trying to make you blush and go weak in the knees!! Did it work?;) But really, don't you think he should have kept the cat and let her take his sweater??? You know the song I mean??

I woke up early this morning around 4am
With the moon shining bright as headlights on the interstate
I pulled the covers over my head and tried to catch some sleep
But thoughts of us kept keeping me awake
Ever since you found yourself in someone else's arms
I've been tryin' my best to get along
But that's OK
There's nothing left to say, but

Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me

I went out driving trying to clear my head
I tried to sweep out all the ruins that my emotions left
I guess I'm feeling just a little tired of this
And all the baggage that seems to still exist
It seems the only blessing I have left to my name
Is not knowing what we could have been
What we should have been
So

Take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
Take your space and take your reasons
But you'll think of me
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me

Someday I'm gonna run across your mind
Don't worry, I'll be fine
I'm gonna be alright
While you're sleeping with your pride
Wishing I could hold you tight
I'll be over you
And on with my life

So take your records, take your freedom
Take your memories I don't need'em
And take your cat and leave my sweater
'Cause we have nothing left to weather
In fact I'll feel a whole lot better
But you'll think of me
But you'll think of me, you'll think of me, yeah

And you're gonna think of me
Oh someday baby, someday
