Here is "PIPPI" She is a 3 year old Ruddy Abyssinian. I rescued her off the streets of Long Beach, California when she was about 5 months old. She was a mess, severe diarrhea, Giardia,Worms, and bald spots all over, and unfixed(she went into heat 2 weeks after I got her) She has been in our family of now 8 cats and 2 humans for 2 1/2 years. She had alot of health problems which she has overcome. She was diagnosed with Inflamatory Bowel Disease. The Vet said she would have to be on Prednisone for the rest of her life. Well I went on the internet and read about this and now with the help of my Vet and what I found out, "Pippi" is cured!!
I would love to see other Aby's and their stories. :)

Hi libracats! Cougie is my abbyssinian boy and I will post pics as soon as I can. Cougie is wonderful and I would not trade him for anything!

Cougie - cute - hence the abby right? What color is your abby (Ruddy, Silver???) Just love the breed. They usually make a big hit at the local cat show (which I never miss). They truly resemble a Cougar so sleek and shiny - you expect them to blurt out a roar any minute :D :D

Hi Purrly - He is a ruddy and yes looks like a little cougar. We even have a picture of a real cougar so that we can show people. He looks like a Cougar but is a gentle little guy that brings us so much love. People tell us he has the personality of a Maine Coon! Yes, Abys are a gift! Glad you like them too.

Thanks everybody. Pippi is a very special cat. And Cougie, have you ever been to an Abyssinian Cat Show? I went to one last year for the first time. I couldn't believe it when I walked in the room there were about 40 Pippi's there. They look So much alike. And when they were judging them, watching their movements they were almost all the same. Does Cougie get along with other cats? Pippi has her moods and will play with the others occasionally but for the most part she dosent want any part of them. She is truely my Husbands Cat.They have special rituals like Head Butt and paw for attention(and her treat, boiled chicken). She is very quiet, loves rubs(even belly rubs) but hates to be picked up.And of course, she is Very intellegent.

I would love to go to an Abyssinian Cat show! Unfortunately, my area only gets one cat show a year and its a general so you have all breeds :( :) It is still fun to watch! I would love to see a whole room of Pippis and Cougies.

Cougie gets along with Max and Fester pretty well. He will play with them but he is also independent too. He sometimes will not sleep with us and the others on his cat bed, rather he will sleep in some other room of the house. He is very affectionate and loves to be held. You will put him on your chest and He will give you a head bump and purr loudly! He also misses us when we are gone and have to have a cat sitter at the house. One time we came home from a vacation and went back out to get the bags and the sitter told us he walked around yowling when we were outside. And he hardly ever meows or yowls. We love him dearly!

You may have cost me my marriage, since I logged on those webshots and was there for hours. All the beautiful abys...and other splendid cats.

Aren't abyssinians sweeties? My two get along well with each other but maybe it's because they're sisters. One of them, Pounce, is around us all the time (she's sleeping on the comp monitor right now!) and she loves to cuddle, kneed us and give head butts. The other, Cairo, is a food addict and loves to eat weird things like broccoli.

Here's a picture of my two, Pounce is licking Cairo.

Thanks so much for the help, Spencer!

Here is another picture....the darker kitty is Graemer, the male and the lighter kitty is Miley, his sister. They will be one year old tomorrow, Nov. 12th!

http://wsphotofews.excite.com/002/xw/89/BD/bE89751.jpg Graemer and Miley

And then this is a picture of the two, as kittens, before I brought them home, weeks later. Miley is on the top, left, hugging her brother Grammy Crackers....their sister who lives in NYC is the kitty on the far right. The other kittens were from another litter.

Doesn't Graemer have the longest tail?
This photo is from the famous and oh so
loved, porch. The cats spent the summer
on the porch and still play on it even
though it is cold out. I installed a
window/door and they just love it. And
I love my kitties, as you may have guessed
by now.

Great pictures of beautiful Abys! Well, this is my Abyssinian, Honey Boy. His registered name is Glenmaulin Sundust but to me he's my Honey. His colour is Sorrel Silver (fawn). He's now 4 but this picture was when he was a few months old. He's just gorgeous - very talkative, very needy of cuddles and attention and loves his food. You can e-mail Honey Boy at [email protected]

LOL Popcorn is at the back, in-between the two big boys. She's a tortie and kind-of blends into the background. Thanks for all your comments about my beautiful babies. Couln't resist just putting one more pic of Honey Boy! He's indulging in one of his most favourite activities. :p

I sure love "them abys!" What a wonderful breed of cat. Mine are mixed but they have enough of the Aby traits in them to make me desirious of a pure-bred. Maybe some day......!
