We were recently 'adopted' by a stray. He just came up to the window one day and started chatting with our cat. They obviously hit it off, because he moved right in. After checking to see if anyone had reported him lost (no one had) and getting the OK from the vet, he's now ours. He's got no tail and the vet says he's probably a Manx, judging from his gait.

Does anyone know anything about the breed? Personalities, health issues, etc.? Any input is appreciated!

Thanks, Spencer!

What a beautiful cat you have! Has the same mischievous look as our new Manx, Harvey. Harvey does hop like a bunny -- it's quite endearing. The vet says he's about 1 or 2 years old, so I guess he's out of the woods so far as spinal disorders go. Thanks again for the info.

Deb-
What a darling he is, with his little white mittens and his little fluff ball of a stumpy tail and those squeezy lovey eyes! You were certaily picked by a winner!

Deb: What a nice-looking cat! He looks quite loveable. Is he affectionate with you or just your other kitty? The name Harvey fits him, I think. Good for you for adopting this stray!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif Yay for Harvey!

Margaret:

Harvey's not exactly a lap cat . . . in fact, he pretends to be downright grumpy much of the time. He is the LOUDEST complainer I've ever had, but he is definitely a people cat and likes to follow us around. Spends most of his waking hours play-fighting with and chasing our first cat, Stanley, who adores him. He likes to put his arm around Harvey and lick him until Harvey's patience runs out. It's worked out wonderfully because Stanley is extremely active (hyperactive, truth be told) and needs constant amusement. Our other cat, Phoebe, also recently adopted, is just now starting to warm up to the new arrival. For weeks, she would make a point of walking up to him, hissing, then walking away . . . but I've recently caught her trying to lick Harvey, though he's still a bit leary of her. Don't blame him. The three of them are quite entertaining! A photo of the gang (Stanley's the one on top): http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/dlburton/cats.jpg

Cool photo! Thanks for posting it! Looks like all of the kitties are doing just great, and I can tell that Harvey has made himself at home. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif
