I could use some ideas to combat the annual invasion of ants at my apartment. (Seems to happen at the start of warm weather every year.) This year it's especially bad; the cats don't like them in their kibble and I HATE it http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/mad.gif!

1) We have several of the electronic ultrasound plug-in units. 2) I've been moving the wet food bowl around to confuse the ants. It works marginally. Unfortunately the cats aren't fond of innovation... 3) I've bought plastic plant holder drip pans that 'hold' the kibble bowls and surround them with a small moat of water to keep the ants out. The cats are big enough though that they nudge the bowls to the side and get rid of the moat effect. Also dropped kibble swells up and eventually makes a soggy bridge. 4) I've bought up bunches of the pet safe poison traps and set them around. 5) I've asked the associate to spray outside my unit (and kept the windows closed on days that are scheduled for spraying, just in case.)

I think I'm missing something obvious. Any suggestions? Fortunately this should be over in a couple weeks if it follows annual patterns.

http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif A minor funny out of all this? One morning I caught Olivia practicing her 'stealth pounce' moves. She was hunting the ants for me, at least until she found herself surrounded. Then she got discouraged and went to rest on top the kitty condo!

I don't really now what to say other than call a professional. My cats bat the stupid ant baits around the floor http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/rolleyes.gif.
We are having battle of the ants at our house too. Mostly our ants eat toothpaste.
