I've finally have some more pics of Gully. The first few days were kind of rough. I kept crying about Maddie. Those that have lost a beloved dog, when you got a new one did you find it somewhat difficult? Everytime I would look at him, it was a reminder that she wasn't there. But luckily we've finally turned the corner. We're really bonding now. He is such a sweetheart and such a character too. He bounces and pounces everywhere he goes and last night he was jumping and hurling himself into the wall and door. Not sure where he learned slam dancing, but he does it quite well. :) Think I should have named him either "Tigger" or "Bam".

Him and Murph aren't exactly playing together yet, but they're co-existing with each other fine now. We've been working on him catching his stuffie. He's starting to get the hang of it, although he's not quite as proficient as Oz was at that age, but he excels in other stuff. He is fearless so far. I had to put the teeter totter up, because he was toodling up that without a care in the world, which is great, but I don't want him accidently falling off if I shouldn't happen to be watching at that moment. He jumped off the bed yesterday, which is a pretty long drop for puppy. Oz jumped off and before I could grab Gully, he followed right behind him. Luckily he wasn't hurt, so now I have to be extra careful when he's on the bed with us.

Housebreaking is coming along really good. He started popping the bells hanging from the doorknob yesterday. I don't think he's got the connection between, ring the bell, then go outside to potty yet. But hopefully the lightbulb will come on for that connection soon.

Here's the pics:

Par,

It will be hard for awhile ......... probably for quite along while. Maddie was such a special part of your life ...... and you will always remember her fondly (and, YES, it will make you sad too).
BUT ................ it will get better, day by day ...... never forgotten, but better!

NOW, Gully - JUST LOOK AT THOSE EARS!!!!! Kiss, kiss ....

Murph - you beautiful boy

AND

OZZY - as always, such a regal, stunner!

I had to put my 15-year-old dog/best friend, Bruno, down in June. I wasn't ready right away for the responsibility of another dog, so, it wasn't until February that I got Finn. I've never had a puppy before (Bruno was one when I got him), but, for me, it was really difficult at first. The first couple of days with Finn were good, but, after that, for about a week or two, it was hard. I thought about Bruno a lot, and, cried a lot about him. :( But, I've been "around the corner" with Finn for awhile now. I think of Bruno probably every day, but, rarely in a sad way. I don't think that will ever change. He was too much a part of my life. I accidentally called Finn "Bruno" recently. It didn't upset me, and, of course, he didn't even look cuz that's not his name, it actually made me laugh. I had to go give Bruno's urn a hand smooch, though. It's a tradition I have. Kiss my fingers, touch his picture. But, Finn and I have a tremendous bond, now. He just fills a different part of me than Bruno did. :) I think your doggies are all beautiful and I LOVE your signature! That has to be the coolest one I've seen yet! Very neat concept. Did you make it?

WOW!

Par, that Oz man can't possibly get any more handsome...I just love that boy of yours! [Molly would like to say she does, too. ;)]

Gully is turning out to be quite the stunner! Looks like one day he'll have Molly's crazy ears. ;) I guess you decided to not do the ear tapping with him? You're making me want another puppy SO bad...

Murph's a little cutie, too! I just love all your boys!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks y'all! The 3 Amigos send Collie Nose Nudges and Terrier Tail Wags to everybody!

I've been laughing at his ears too. I kind of hope they straighten out though. But if they don't, they don't. Since he's not a show dog, I just don't see myself spending anytime trying to tape them.

Hi Captain!

I have to keep reminding myself, "do not compare him to Maddie", "do not compare him to Maddie", which has been a lil' bit hard, because he has some Maddie-esque qualities about him. One of which is he does the frog dog. I told my friend if he starts yodeling, I'm gonna be convinced he's Maddie reincarnated. :)

Hola Gustergirl!

Totally understand the tradition thing. I say "I love you, Maddie" every morning, just on case her spirit can hear me.

On the signature, there was somebody else on here who had one like that, which is where the idea came from. Idgie's mom made the signature for me after Maddie died. She also made similar ones for Oz and Murph, that I've had posted before too. I'll pass on your comments too her.

hey there binka and dappledoxie!

Well I gotta say so far, Gully is turning out to be as easily trained as Oz. But he seems to be more energetic than Oz was at this age. So if you get a Collie, be ready for constant motion and keeping them exercised. I keep thanking Oz everyday for helping me tire him out.

thanks apcrs! glad to see ya back!

hey wolfq! yeh I like the dark around his eye too. I told Oz not to worry though, he's still king in the beautiful eye department and I told Murph, he still rules in the cute butt/tail department :)
