As I have said in other posts I haven't had a tree in a couple of years due to my one cat's obsession with the balls and lights but I do have a lighted garland over the archway to my dining room. My kids feel this is not good enough and got me a new fiber optic tree (about 3' tall). It sits on a table and lights up with no tempting dangling objects. So far so good..... Well this morning I came downstairs and there was my new tree laying down on the table. It wasn't harmed and all I did was smile. I would have loved to have been there when my little Andy knocked it over, probably in the wee hours of this morning (I know it was him!) We'll see if that ends his curiosity!
