I'm thinking of setting up a web cam in the cat bed or dogs' room but how do I get it from the web cam to the world?

Do I need my computer on 24 x 7 (I only have dial-up), will I need my own domain and server? Hmmm, this is harder than I first thought.

I was just looking at that link from Ask Jeeves!

I think I need to ring my ISP and ask if I'm allowed to do this. It should be OK, because it's not like 6 billion people are going to view it every day ;)

I have a web cam, but I seldom use it now. But it would be cool for you to do it, so Gigi can see Schnaggles all the time. :D

I've set up a webcam on occasion, so people can see the kitties or ratties, but I think to have it on 24/7 I would have to stay connected to my dial-up Internet provider all that time too. I pay a flat fee per month for unlimited use, but if you are logged on with no "activity" for a few hours, it automatically disconnects you so you don't hog up server space that could be used by people who are actually doing something online. Like my web provider will be the judge of whether or not I'm a waste of cyberspace......

It sure would be fun to see what the kitties are up to when I'm not home though!! :D (Maybe I don't want to know!)
