I see only 8 problems here - no number 3 or 4. I didn't quite know how to best handle the fraction and square root notation so I wrote out each answer in both symbols and words. The "carrot" symbol means that you raise the previous number or unknown to whatever power comes after the "carrot." It's like on a graphing calculator if you were to type "2" then "^" then "2", you would get 2 squared is 4.

Answers:

1. 1/(4a^3)
"one over four times a to the third power"

2. b^6/a^5
"b to the sixth power over a to the fifth power"

5. 4 a^4 b^4 root(a)
"4 times a to the fourth power times b to the fourth power times the square root of a"

6. 2/(2root(3)) = 1/(root(3))
"one over the square root of three"

7. (3root(2))^2 + 2^2 + 2 x 2 x 3root(2) =
18 + 4 + 12root(2) =
22 + 12(root)2
"twenty-two plus twelve times the square root of two"

8. 10/(root(10)-3)
"ten over the square root of 10 minus three"

9. 50root(2) - 18root(2) = 32root(2)
"thirty-two times the square root of two"

10. root(3)/2 - root(3)/8 =
4root(3) - root(3)/8 =
3root(3)/8
"three times the square root of three over eight"

Next time you should probably make an appointment with your professor or TA to go over any questions you have before the weekend before a test.

I hate math too much to be patient enough with those types of problems.

Actually I'm a freshman in college, I'm finishing up my classes, and Monday is my last day.

I have to take Algebra again so I can transfer to whatever university I go next fall. :)

This kind of math SUCKS! :o

I hate math! I couldn't help you if I had to. I barely made it through pre Algebra.

lol if I remeber right your are supposed to move the numbers with negitive exponents to the bottom or top, to make them positive, before you can solve the problem.

oh and for the square root ones how were you tought to factor? my math teacher tought us an easier way to factor, that I tought my friend who now no longer has trouble factoring lol

the answer to # 5 would be 4 A to the 4, B to the 4 root A

#6 is 2 root 3 over 6

...I just finnished taking these type of questions lat term, which I got an 85%
