Sundance has always used his liter box faithfully (the liter is in the bathroom) until one time I was taking a shower with the door shut and I came downstairs and found feces on a newspaper on the floor. I assume he did that because the door was shut and he had to go. He urninates in the box all the time. He just did it this morning again (I fogot and shut the door)on newspaper - at least he is clean! I have moved the liter to the hallway outside the bathroom so he always has access. My questions is does anyone think this is a behavior problem or just that he could not get to the liter. I scoop the liter 3 times a day and the whole box gets cleaned every 10 days - it never smells. Thanks

We have never had that problem with Dutchess or Yum Yum. Even if we don't clean up after them for a week they will still use it. Our problem is that the litter gets all over the floor when they step out of the box.
Your cat is probably just upset at you for leaving the bathroom door closed. :)

kgeorge - make sure kitty always has access to the litter box. Never fails, as soon as its inconvenient, they will have to go - I guess you could call it Murphy's Cat Law :D

Thanks everyone, now the liter is outside the bathroom. At least he was trying to be clean by going on the paper!
