Fell off a three-step step-ladder yesterday at work and broke a bone in my hand (at the base of the thumb). My right hand including the thumb is in a bright red cast. Boy do I feel dumb! :o

Will be in a cast for six weeks. YUCK! So many things I can't do. I am so right handed!! Have to re-learn how to do the simplest things.

Ouch! I know that had to hurt! A broken bone is sooo painful. You take care of that hand and try not to hurt it anymore.

Ouch!

Good luck with brushing teeth and all those other things that must be so hard to do!

Good luck adapting to that! I'm sure you're going to have a lot of fun. I'm right handed, too and don't know what I'd do. I type for a living and would really be in trouble.

Sorry to hear about your hand.

If typing is to hard left handed, you could always just hit the smilies. At least people will know your still around, lurking in the background. ;)

Take care of you hand.

Oh, ouch! Hope you feel better soon. I recommend Velcro sneakers (or pumps - nothing to tie) for the duration, and of course, for those around you o hep a lot! T-shirts and pullovers (nothing to button) are easier, too.

When I was in 5th grade, my good friend broke her right wrist. I was so appalled at her incapacity that I decided to practice writing left-handed, just in case. I can still do it, I'm just a lot slower writing lefty!

Poor thing!!! I'm so sorry that you had this accident!!!

When I was in college, I broke my left wrist, and I'm left handed. I had a hard time explaining to my parents that I was dancing and slipped on a wet floor (well, it was raining outside, but I fear that the floor was more covered with spilled beer than rain). Thankfully, I had a friend who was in all but one class, and she shared her notes with me (let me copy them on a copier). Otherwise, I would have been in a heap of trouble! I could take notes with my right hand, but I couldn't read a word of them!

Hope you heal up soon, Robin, and definitely, use those smilies until you are better!!! :D

OUCHIES!

Ack.. broken bones hurt so much. I've only broke something once, but I remember the pain clearly. It was my brother's fault but I tried covering for him, he felt bad enough. :p
Oh, and I surely remember the itching and bother of the cast!
Mine was waterproof though, so I was able to go swimming and everything.

I also remember trying to write with a cast on, and with my left hand.. It was right before school started so I had to sign a bunch of papers for school.:p

Heal soon - hope to see you around, even with your broken arm and a cast on... it's hard to beat the PT addiction. :p

Thanks for the well wishes. Not too painful - just a pain in the butt to do anything. Didn't realize just how dependent on my right hand I really was.

I am such a klutz I'm really surprised I haven't broken anything but little toes before this. Poor Dick (BF) he's having to do all the bathing of Max - twice a week. Really tought on his knees and back to do it. Now he has to do everything else too.

Ouch! I missed this thread! I'm sorry that you fell so hard! It sound like something I'd do... I'm a certified klutz too! So far, no broken bones. *knocks on wood*

At least you got a cool red cast.:D

At least you broke something that gets casted!

I've broken my buttbone, my nose, and bone in the top of my foot. Do you know how many times my foot was stepped on? I also got kicked in the nose a week after I broke it... (and I wonder why I have a crooked nose?)

Happy healing! Just think... no dishes, no shampooing your own hair... get pampered!
