I mentioned in another post that Boomer has a relatively short tail compared to other cats I have encountered. It also has several kinks in it that leads me to believe that he has a bit of Japanese Bobtail in him. (that and the fact that we're in Japan and his parents were most likely locals) Anywho, I don't know if it is important to consider body length vs. tail length, but Boomer's tail is 6inches/15cm and his body from shoulders to the base of his tail is about 18inches/46cm.

edit: I hope that my conversions were right. My measuring tape has both inches and centimeters and I *think* that I read it correctly. feel free to correct me if I'm wrong:)

LOL! They both took off like lighting when I came near them with the tape measure!

Boomer's tail seems VERY short. I had no idea that short though.

OK, cornered Pouncer... his tail is 12" and his torso from shoulders to base of tail is also 12" A symmetrical cat!

Cornered Allen too... his tail is 12" and his torso from shoulders to base of tail is 15" I thought Allen was bigger... but he also wasn't cooperating very well!

It depends , on the Breed as the Siamese Tails are log while Moose , Princess anf JJJ3 have stumpier tails! The Rest , I guess are about a Foot Long!

Scout's tail is almost 8 inches long but she is very small.

Jazz's tail is 11 1/2 inches and is looks very long on her body because she isn't too big either.

Ripley's tail is 12 3/4 inches long and looks in proportion to his body because he is huge.

Mine thought the tape measure was a new toy!!:D
Eliot - body 12" tail 12 1/2" part siamese
Dylan - body 15" tail 17" may be some fur because when you look at him, he looks symmetrical
Emily - leave me alone!!! she is a good bit smaller than Eliot though.

You know this just plain weird, I don't have a cat with a long tail. Stubby's tail is about an inch long. Grover's tail is about an inch and a half, counting the skin at the end of her tail. (which that just gives her a little curl at the end of her tail, and gives her that cute personality)

I doubt I'll ever be able to measure either of mine. It's impossible to tell where the tail ends and the fur begins!

So I'll just go by the fact that they're big cats with looooong tails, and put 'em in the last group. ;)

OK where to start....I guess with the shortest!!

Mystic has the shortest tail of my family of 5. I can only approximate that her tail is about 6 or 7 inches in length and it is very fat...kind of like her belly!!!

Tucker is next at about 8 inches.

Tigger at about 9 inches.....

Smokey and Abner have the longest tails of my 5 coming in about 10 or 11 inches. I can always tell at night, in the dark, whose tail is whose because as we all know Abner's tail is very fluffy

and Smokeys tail is not.

Miss J is 12" in tail and 12"in body. Now that I have disturbed her with my measuring...she is in a cleaning frenzy. 'lick, lick, lick lick'. :D
