I recently rescued what appeared to be a rare albino cone. He doesn't have a name yet, but he's been making himself right at home.

Here he is just hanging out on the counter.

On the top of the cat tree.

He really likes to hang out on the recliner.

He tried to cuddle with Corkscrew, but Corkscrew didn't really seem to like him.

Here he is with the rest of his new cone family.

Awww...he's adorable! He looks like he's making himself right at home already, and looks like he's getting the group hug thing from the rest of his new cone family. I'm sure Corkscrew will come around too - but what about Tibby? :D

I like the name "Blanche" ;) Many albinos are deaf, have you noticed any reactions when you speak from behind??

LOL! I think I almost peed my pants! It's so nice of you to get him off the street. :p You should name him Whitey like the guy in Me, Myself, & Irene.

Oh my gosh what a find!!! There are very rare and I read somewhere they only breed in dark rain forests because the sunlight is too bright for them. Congratulations on giving him a loving home.:) :)

What a beautiful Cone! I agree with Laurie, the name Blanche just suits it! Its seems to be getting along quite well with your other cones also. Corkscrew will eventually accept the new cone, I'm sure.

Good luck with the new cone and congratulations on the new addition!!

OMG! He is so cute! Are you going to breed him? If so, put me on the waiting list.

I thought about it seeing as how the albino cone is endagered, but I don't think I am able to handle a little cone family at this time so I don't think I'll be breeding him. Can cones get neutered?

I am sure he can get neutered, I don't know where to find a place that will neuter male albino cones though. Good luck, I think Blanche fits him very well!

OMG! I'm speechless! What a rare find! Lucky you! Perhaps if you kept him locked up in a separate room for a bit and introduced him SLOWLY to the cats, they'll adjust. ;)

LOL.. Cute!

How about naming him/her Albumen?
Haha, it's something I just learn in Nutri/wellness class -- The white part of the Egg is the Albumen, which is where we get the word "albino"

I feel like such a nerd now. :o :p ;)

How about naming him/her Albumen?

I like that name, I also like Blanch but it reminds me of that girl from the Golden Girls. Hmmm so I think it's either going to be Albumen or Powder.

I like Powder! My suggestion of Blanche was for a female of course but Powder is rather neutral. I once knew and bottle fed a baby goat, only hours old, named Powder. I wanted to bring Powder home but that would not seem prudent in my neighborhood, alas...

Yes, I think Powder would be a great name!

I am sure they can get neutered but if his/her species is endangered it might be irresponsible to neuter him/her. Which leads me to the question: Is she Powder (a girl) or is he Albumen (a boy)????

OMG...what a gorgeous creature! One question though..many albinos are deaf, and I am wondering if this one responds to sounds? I'll bet if they bred (I never encourage such irresponsible behaviour) I'll bet they'd be orange and white tabbys.:D How about naming coney, D.C (dunce cap)?:p

Hey guys! I'm new to PT and have to say I have never laughed so hard reading a message board. I found PT a while back while looking for pet advice or simply interesting pet stories. I have an Airedale mix (1/2 Airedale and half Austrailian Shep. I think...well the Airedale is for certain).
I must admit. I have a cone that I rescued from a college neighbor's house a couple of years back. They didn't want him (atleast he looks like a boy) and he's been grazing in my dad's backyard. Perhaps I should bring him home to live with me before it gets cold.
Any suggestions on names? He is a young cone, bright orange with a couple of reflective stripes.

That is one handsome cone there! Wonder how he is hanging out with Tibby than Corkscrew? I like the name Powder as well!

I'm the proud co-family member of two cones that protect my horseshoe pit, Klark and Kent. You have to wait until you check out the personality of your cone before naming... at least that's my experience

Welcome Banders! I hope your backyard is safe for a cone to graze in. I just cannot think of an Airedale mix lifting a leg....... :p

They are usually shy but some can be aggresive (not often, especially when rescued) they are protective but need protecting too. They make wonderful additions to a household and usually get along quite well with dogs and cats. Although, some dogs tend to .. well, lift legs upon them. They take it in stride mostly. :D

JALB - these are plastic safety cones, that are used to mark off lanes on highways, and in towns and cities around construction areas.

Get it? We're introducing them as a "new species"! :D
