Very sad news on Uniqueviking's Beans

She's been at the vet clinic this morning. There's nothing that can be done for poor little Beans. :(

It's no HCM, it's her heart valves, they don't close. According to the specialist, she only has a couple of months to live, or even less. It's progressing very fast, and she's doing much worse than only two weeks ago. She could even drop dead every minute.


I was sooo hoping to hear better news from Uniqueviking today, and it's just not fair that this sweet little girl will be taken away from her so soon! She's only three and a half years old! But she was probably born with that defect already. :(

Uniqueviking, who is one of my best friends, will probably take a break from the internet for a while. She's devastated, as you can imagine.

I'm sorry I have no better news for you.
I'm so sad. :(

Oh Kirsten that's so sad. The next time you see her please give her a BIG HUG from me and tell her to give Beans some scritches from me too. Sometimes these things just happen but for Beans to be so young is nothing short of tragic. All there is left to do is for them to enjoy each other for what time is left. :(

Forgot to say: Beans is home with her now, and she's sleeping most of the time.
Her little heart is beating so fast now that they couldn't even count the beats per minute in the echocardiogram today... :(

Beans is such a special girl. She came to UV when she was almost one year old. She has been abused by her first humans, and she has been "delivered" to UV in a plastic bag... :( I'm glad she has eventually found such a good home! I know how much she is loved!

I have only lost geriatric cats and so it is very hard to imagine how UV must feel - to know she will soon lose such a young cat. My heart is breaking for her and poor Beans, and it's really hard to imagine what it's like to know for sure that you'll lose your kitty friend so soon. It's four years ago now that I lost Katz (she also had a heart disease), but even though I knew how sick she was I thought there was still hope when she's taking her meds.

It's so sad. You wish there's something you can do but there isn't... :(

I heard from UV this morning and she told me she has read the posts, but wasn't ready to post yet.

Oh, and btw, we don't know each other in person (even though I hope this will change later this year) but became good friends on the internet. We're talking a lot on the phone meanwhile, and of course on the net.

Now here's an update on Beans:

According to the specialist, she is coping very well and is such a brave little girl. She loves her new diet food and is eating. She even had a brief playing moment this morning.

She's a good girl and takes her meds, and she seems to tolerate them very well so far. I know she will be terribly spoilt now and she seems to enjoy that.

Of course she's tired and sleeps a lot, but I know UV will do her best to give her as much life quality as possible.
