Have you ever "encountered" an experience with one or a few? I believe in them. I certainly do, no doubt about it.

In my house, I experienced weird/strange things happening. We had three ghosts in our house two years ago. One ghost was a neighbor who passed away from an heart attack, and he spent his time in our house, spent his time teasing us and the dogs. When he was alive, he absolutely did not like the dogs. He found them annoying. He would tease Rosie and one time, I saw this happen, she yelped and peed right on the middle of the kitchen floor, RIGHT AFTER she came from outside during the day. That was just crazy. You know how Anna used to escape so many times when we had no fence in our backyard, how we were so baffled about how she could get out of the yard, even if she had been checked if her rope was tied on her right? (Doggy trolley).. The ghost let her go, unleashed her, and had her run. This happened 3-4 times.. that was a crazy time.
The other two ghosts, they followed my dad home from work. They were wanting to find a place where there were a lot of energy held, and I guess, our house had a lot of energy, since I have two brothers, two dogs, and the parents. They were harmless to us, except the neighbor. They would play games on us, like misplace objects but they'd place it back eventually.
The neighbor, he taunted my brothers often. He hung out in my brothers' room - and this happened. When my brother got out of the shower, and he looked at me, and said "I felt someone hit me/slap me on the back with a hand." and he showed me the marks, and I didn't believe him. I told him, "Yeah right.. " but he said, he was serious.. he compared his hand size to the one on his back.. it was so freaky, there were finger prints, like he grabbed onto his back with his fingers. That's how we knew, this ghost was just bad. All he did was to tease us.. He would turn on the tv, and we'd shut it off, and he'd turn it back in within 5 minutes. My brother felt him walk by, with a cold breeze in his room one time. Since I can't hear at night times, he managed a way to freak me out. He would set my alarm clock to go off at the wrong time of the night.. One night, it went off at 3am, and the alarm was OFF. I shut it off, wasn't thinking, I was dead-tired, then it went off again in 5 minutes. I got a little concerned, but ignored it again, and shut it off, actually I unplugged it, and guess what? It WENT OFF FOR THE 3RD TIME.. after few minutes, and I just freaked out, and spent the rest of the night in my parents' bed.
You ask, how do I know all this? How did I know who the ghosts were? We had a ghost lady come over, and she spoke to my parents. We have a few pictures that showed orbs, and they were definitely in the picture(s). She spoke to my mom over the phone before she came over, and she TOLD her where the ghosts were, and what they were doing right now at the moment. She told mom that the neighbor was sitting on the stairs, looking out at the front yard. The other ghost was in the kitchen with my mom, just sitting on the counter, watching. The third ghost was in my brother's room, leaning onto a counter and looking out the window.

This whole thing is freaky, so that made me believe that there are REALLY ghosts out there, good & bad.

I knew I left out a part.

The ghost lady, she gathered them in the living room, and spoke with them. She could see them.. she had them to go to the light, they were done, they have NO MORE unfinished buisness, and it was time for them to say goodbye. She told us that the neighbor that left us, before he did, he looked back and smiled, a sly smile, at that. The other two ghosts, waved to us, and "thanked" us for their stay.. so we had two good ghosts and one bad..

i believe in ghosts and things, but not like the way most people think of htem as these people walking around the house being mean, i think it's more just a shapeless spirit wandering around, (and having fun with the superstitious people) ;)

I don't think I believe in ghosts...but I'm terrified of them. Your story really scared me:p lol...but I do like reading ghost stories and horror movies.
I used to have a friend who said there were ghosts in her house and she always told us stories. I don't exactly remember all of them though. There was one she told us that she was in the shower one day, and when she came out she saw a handprint on the mirror or something. There was another time when she was watching tv, and the clock on the vcr thing suddenly jumped ahead 5 hours.
Well, I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts. I don't want to though. They scare me too much. But I have heard many ghost stories...so I don't really know what to believe.

CountryWolf,

Yes, I do believe in spirits / ghosts ............... and I guess you would call me a "ghost lady" because I can see them too ......
So can my Mum.

She helped a spirit on its' way out of my ex-bosses house. It was a teenager who died in a car crash, and that house is where she used to live. Shortly after her death, her parents sold the house, and when she finally went back to it, they were gone. All she wanted was to find them ....... She was pretty mischievous.
I looked after the house just after he bought it, and she would turn the lights on and off, start the dishwasher, etc ..........

Most spirits I have "met" are friendly tho ........ wouldn't want to "meet" a bad one! :(

Sometimes, you can see them clear as day - looking just like us, others however, appear "ghostlike / see-through", and then there are others that are just "spirts" - you don't see them, but you feel them.

AND, they do not always remain the same - Let me clarify.

The "teenager" at my ex-bosses house, I "felt" her long before I ever saw her ....... I only saw her about 3 months later. It depends on THEM and also on whether YOU are receptive to them.

There have been times where my Mum has seen a spirit, and I had no idea it was there because I was too "busy" in my own life .... Weird, but true.

This is not something I have actually ever talked to people about ......... but thanks for asking!

NO, No, No ....... please don't get freaked out.

95% of spirits / ghosts are LONELY ........ and that is why they roam and seek out company.
You must have a very vibrant house - by that I mean, full of love , friendly, open, etc ......... to have had 3 spirits!

Mind you, your nextdoor neighbour - He ruined it for the other 2 "friendly" spirits!

CountryWolf07
04-13-2004, 06:20 PM
Really?

He did ruin it.. those other two were just harmless to us.. they were just nice.. they just basically left us alone at night, except the neighbor.. I just don't understand WHY they had to be AT MY HOUSE.. why DID that neighbor be at my house instead of being at his home across the street?? Those two ghosts.. one of them, followed my dad home from work.. it was a female, she actually got in my dad's jeep, and hitched a ride... I don't know.. my house was like a train stop express or something..

Ghosts as in *ghosts*..............no I don't believe in them.

I *do* however, believe in *jinns*.............and that is the Arabic word for them. I have no idea what they are called in English or if Christians and people of other faiths even believe in them, BUT, I'll try to explain.

Muslims believe that of God's creatures, Human beings, and *Jinns* will be the only ones accountable for their deeds, and rewarded/punished for them in the hereafter. Just as we believe God made humans from clay/earth, we believe God made Jinns from fire. They are actually the *species* that Satan, or the Devil is from. They are invisible to the human eye, but they are around, and they can see us while we can't see them. Satan, the devil, from our beliefs, is from the species of *Jinns*. We also believe *Jinns* have the God-given ability to change their forms.........like they can take the form of a human, or animal, and then change back into their original Jinn form, which would be invisible to us. Again, I don't know the English word for them or if there even is one. What do Christians believe about Satan.......the Devil? I know Christians, too, believe in his existance, but I don't know if they believe in the whole specie. :p Anyway, we believe there are good and bad jinns, and that Satan, is the leader of the bad ones.

I truely believe in Jinns.............I know they exist, and I have heard many many stories about them. They aren't ghosts or *spirits*, but a different species, just like us, but unseen to the human eye. I know they have been known to go *inside* people at times, and there are people, that take them out. It is freaky. We also believe magicians *deal* with these jinns, and that is why magic, as in real magic, is forbidden in our religion.............because we believe to do magic, you have to have contacts with the devils. We don't believe you can do it alone.

I don't believe what's in your house are ghosts...........I believe they are Jinns, and that thought freaks me out. :o

Weird event in your home! I totally and completely believe in ghosts.

I actually feel that I met an good one while I was in college. I was having a VERY hard time in my life and I met this very nice, extremely handsome, guy. He and I hit it off right away... as a friendship, no romantic feelings at all. He was so easy to talk to and encouraged me to do things I wouldn't have otherwise had the strength or guts to do. I saw him only a few times oin between classes and then he was gone.

One day, about two semesters later, I had changed my life around, lost 70 pounds, lost the dead-beat friends and life was going great. But one day was really really hard and I left class crying. I was walking down the sidewlak to my car and there this guy was. He smiled and asked how I was doing and encouraged me to get through the problem I was having that day (I never told him what it was - he KNEW) I never saw him again afterwards.

Yes, I do. There's no doubt in my mind that they exist.
I was told we had a spirit in our house when we first bought it. (I wasn't born yet at the time...) It was the woman who owned it before us; her husband sold it, after his wife passed away. My mom, dad, and aunt all saw her walking slowly down the hallway, and then she vanished. No harm was done to anything/anyone; they just thought it was her way of saying 'goodbye' to her old house. Shortly after that, my dad found an old ruler that was left behind in the move, which belonged to her, and had her name written on it.
Another spirit was of my mom's old cat, Babs. She was tragically killed by a neighbor's dog. She was my mom's *kitty soul mate*, if that's what you want to call it. At times, it felt like something was on her bed, and then she would hear 'purring noises'. It lasted for a few years, until she brought another cat into the house, Angel, who we still have. We haven't seen/heard from her since. It felt like she was just comforting my mom, before she decided to get another feline companion.

Yes.

I've had a couple of weird occurrences and once saw the ghost of an old lady pass my bedroom door one night.

At my last job we'd have a clairvoyant come in and do readings for us in the office. It freaked me out because one day she cleaned the spirit of a man who lived in the building ... she didn't know that a staff member had committed suicide in the building.

She also 'found' another lost soul at the train station and he followed her on the train until she managed to shake him off to the afterworld. Sounds strange, and you probably had to be there, but I believe her.

I definitely believe in ghosts! Dick's (bf) parents lived in his maternal grandparents home after his mom retired. That house was haunted by the maternal grandparents. They weren't mean, but the definitely were mischievous.

One of the first few times Dick took me to see his parents, we were standing out in front of the house saying goodbye to his parents and I looked up at the attic windows - only to see glowing eyes looking back at me. We got in the car and left immediately.

Later on, we had to put a padlock on the door to the sleeping porch upstairs because even if you locked it with the skeleton key and pulled on the door to make sure it was locked; you could come up later and the door would be open. The locked door to the attic which was in one of the bedrooms came open on me one night when I was sleeping in the room - scared the devil out of me.

One of the last times we stayed there before his parents both passed away, we were sleeping in the room that was his grandparents. I opened my eyes to see a pair of baby shoes hanging out there between the bed and the wall. I closed my eyes and when I opened them again, they were young adult shoes (circa early 1900's). I rolled over and kept my eyes closed.

As we were getting the house cleaned out to sell, Dick's sister and I had gone up early to start cleaning. We were sitting in the kitchen and up above us in the LOCKED sleeping porch, we hard footsteps walk.

While Dick was there alone later that same week, he had turned the radio off to go downtown to get supplies and when he returned the radio was playing loudly.

Yes, I do.

Ralph and I dance at a local studio that has at least two ghosts. One we believe is the mother of the studio owner. I neer met her before she died, but many who knew her have felt her presence inthe studio.

The second we are unsure who it is. We host a haunted house in the studio basement each year, and there is a ghost that hangs out in our maze. Many of us (myself included) have felt this ghost there. I am "back guide" that follows behind the group, does lighting, and makes sure the group stays together. Many times I have been sure someone was still in a particular turn in the maze, only to turn on the light and no one is there. Several others have felt this presence, without having heard stories that it existed.

Well I guess you have to believe in life after death to believe in spirits and ghosts, so not sure if I do or not, I have only had one strange experience, and I put that down to being emotional and tired, when my adopted uncle died years ago, after coming home from his funeral, I went to sleep, and thought someone was shining a torch on my face, I convinced myself it was Uncle Joe, checking in on me, and I was told by a medium who was at his funeral, that his spirit came and sat next to me in the church,:( I had been very upset, and remember at one stage feeling this extreme calming effect come over me.

It was a strange experience, and I waited for him to come visit again, he never did, infact I will never know if it were indeed his spirit or I was dreaming or it was my imagination, so who knows, not me anyhow.

Hello all. I have never never come close to seeing a ghost. I have witnessed things which were highly suspect of a ghost sighting, but through investigation I always found an explanation for what I saw. Living in Hawaii, spirits and the like are part of the culture. There are local people over here that are so afriad of ghosts and spirits that they will not even walk around certain parts of the island. I put ghosts right up with UFO's. UFO's are exactly that; unidentified, same with Ghost sightings. I have had night jobs, and the only scarey things I saw were people, if there were ghosts around, they were friendly. Sooooo, in answer to the question...............I will keep an open mind and just hope they are nice.....so far they have been.......it's just the living beings that scare the heck out of me!!!   :)

I admit I have had some weird feelings, especially in the building where we used to build furniture. A young man was killed there, when an air compresser exploded. I do believe in spirits. Maybe because when my dad died, I wanted so much for him to come back and talk to me. To just see him one more time.

For awhile after his death, I seem to be able to feel his presence, but about two months after his death, it was like I felt him leave.

LOL, I think he went to stay with Ann in Texas. She seems to have more contact with him than I do now. But yes, to quote lat192004, its the living beings that scare the heck out of me too!

I strongly believe in spirits. This story is almost to personal to share, but I will.

When I was 19 and pregnant with Jaden, I was really scared. Jaden was unplanned. My father had died when I was one year old. It never really bothered me that I didn't have him until I became pregnant.

I went the first two trimesters feeling so alone. I can't go into detail because like I said it is very personal, but I felt horrible.

Well, one night, I was big and pregnant and terrified. I cried myself to sleep. I felt so alone.

I woke up in the middle of the night because I felt like someone was staring at me. I swear to this day, I was awake, not dreaming...

I opened my eyes...and there, in the best way I can explain it, was my father, in a blue light. I suppose you couldn't really make it out to be him, but I just knew it was. He was crouched at the foot of my bed with his elbows on his knees. I sat up and said "Dad?!" He didn't say a word, he just peacefully smiled at me and slowly but surely faded away. From that day on, I knew that even though my dad wasn't there in person, he was there in spirit. I wasn't alone.

That is interesting Tonya..

I had something like that... but with my first dog.. Benny.

I was so depressed and upset that I couldn't think straight that day when we had to put him down. That night.. I was on the computer, upset, all teary-eyed, and I looked over to my right, and I saw HIM! He was laying on the rug, I swear to god, he looked up at me.. and he was relaxed. I blinked, and he was gone.. I just asked my mom if she saw him.. and mom said no.. and I knew.. he was there.. to let me know he was OKAY. I felt a lot better after that.. I guess I really wanted to see him ONE MORE TIME.. and I did.. and say goodbye to him.. That night, he was still with me.. when I went to bed, I felt something plop right next to me and something leaning against my leg, and it was him.. :) I miss that ol 'boy.. it's been 6 years now.

Definitely! I know exactly where you're coming from.. all we want is to see them ONE more time.. or just have something to let us know they're in a better place and they are doing just fine..

What's so weird, is that I was ONLY the one who saw Benny. My mom and brothers were in the same room, and they didn't see him when I asked them.. Benny just.. appeared, for me.. that dog is my guardian angel.. he's been by my side since I came home from the hospital after I was born.

OMG!!

Ok, when I was little we had a ghost in our house, his supposid (sp?) name was Otto, and he had died in our house. Every night he would stand by my bedroom door and watch me go to sleep. I can still see a picture of him in my mind.... He always wore a suit. When I got up in the morning I would go downstairs and tell my mom "Mommy that guy was watching me again". I never was scared of him though. One day my parents asked me if I knew his name and I said Carl. Now I never do remember talking to him so I don't know where that came from so.... My parents looked in a family book thingy and found that Carl was the one that died in our house.:(

Another story is when my mom was going to bed when they moved here they heard footsteps on the stairs and nobody was there.....

In my moms bedroom they have a big picture window with a yard light out the front. When she would walk by my room everything would get blurry and cold..

So yes I DO believe in ghosts.

OMG! I just remebered my other ghost experience (and yes, I do consider the first one to be an angel :) )

I worked in picture frame gallery. A coworker and I had many odd experiences. He said that he actually saw the ghost, while I only caught glimpses out of the corner of my eye. Anyway, this ghost was a practical joker. I would put a bottle of glue on the table upside down so that the glue would run to the nozzle and come out easier. I would turn around the and glue would be upright. I'd turn it over again and next thing I knew it was back upright!

I can't count how many times my tape measure was on the table one minute and gone the next... and then back again a minute later. My coworker liked him because he worked at night in the factory by himself and the ghost gave him company. He said he talked to him (he never got an answer, just carried on a monologue with the ghost ;) )

We thought we knew who it was... a picture framer who loved the job. We think his spirit settled where he was happiest.

I do believe in spirits and ghosts. Here is a story that I don't think I've shared on PT before, because it was too hard for me.

I used to live with my grandma (mom's mom). The night after the Seattle Marniers won the world series (she was a HUUUUGE baseball fan, and the Mariners were one of her favourite teams) she came upstairs to go to bed, but didn't come to say goodnight to me. I thought that was odd, but I was studying for an exam so I just kept working and eventually went to bed.

Around 2:30am I heard her go to the bathroom. That was nothing unusual, because she usually got up several times a night.

I woke up late, and left for school around 10am. Nanny was still in bed, but she had been sleeping in lately and so I didn't think anything of it. I went to school, did a bit more studying and took my test.

On my way home, I stopped to wash my car. I eventually got home around 3:30pm.

As soon as I walked in my yard, I knew something was wrong. The morning newspaper was still in the mailbox, and the curtains were still drawn. It was routine for Nanny to collect the paper, open the drapes and read the paper in the sun. I thought, maybe she fell down and broke her hip .. I went running into the house.

I called out to her, but there was no answer. I walked upstairs, and her bedroom door was still shut. I thought, oh no maybe she fell out of bed and couldn't reach the phone! Or maybe she's throwing up, and went back to sleep!! I opened the door. The room was cold but it always was, she didn't like it hot. I called to her, "Nanny? Wake up.. are you sick?" No answer. "Come on, Nanny, wake up! Maybe I should take you to the doctor.............. Nanny?" I shook her arm. It was freezing cold, and felt like a jello mold. I moved to the other side and saw the back of her hand.. it was grey. She looked like she was sleeping, though.. I came back toward the other side of the bed. "Nanny, please wake up!" and I lifed her blankets, to see if ... I don't even know what..

As I did that, I felt a huge gush of warm air. I remember it so distictively because I remember seeing my hair move in the corner of my eye, and I kind of squinted because I could feel this warm air. At that point I thought, well if she's warm she might still be alive! I rushed to call 911, and had the ambulance come out.

She had passed on, though. The ambulance attendants said she had been dead for at least 12 hours. I said to them, "so would the sheets still have been warm or anything?" He replied, "no that's not possible, she's been gone too long."

I didn't realise it at the time, but later that night, after having a good cry, picking up my mom from the airport, I realised that she had waiting for me to come home from school. She was a very religious woman. She always talked about how dying was going to be a joyous experience because she would see all her family that had passed on, and get to meet Jesus and God. But she stayed back, to make sure that I would not be alone when I got home from school. :) She was an amazing woman :)

I do believe in ghosts, spirits, etc. I really like what popcornbird said about jinns. That's very interesting. I can totally see that, too. But, that last story made me cry. :) In a good way, though. I've just read all the stories in this thread, and, although I've never had an experience myself really, I love hearing about them.

I'm not so sure whether I believe in them or not.. but if they are actually true, it'd be really neat to have one of them around our house. A nice one though.. one that comforted me, meant no harm, did no harm, etc..

I'm probably just insane, but I think my old TV was haunted somehow.

Whenever i'd watch it, it'd all of the sudden turn channels. It'd always turn the channel to a channel where someone was preaching. I wasn't touching the remote, nothing was touching the remote, and nothing was touching the buttons on the TV.

Then, when i'd go to sleep. it'd sometimes turnn on by itself. not on a channel, to one of those fuzzy "snow" screens. Volume all the way up, and you couldn't turn it off unless you unplugged the cord.

One day it just freaked me out too much, so I unplugged it and carried (the very heavy) TV out in the living room and told my dad to get rid of it. :p

Now, there's no TV in my room, and that's probably the reason I don't watch tv as much as I used to.

Well - this could be explained away by a faulty wire or a short circuit somewhere... I have a fairly new MiniDisc player (they never really caught on) and after a while the thing started turning itself on. I had it cleaned and it stopped. Now it's started again, so I just unplugged it. It was a faulty switch somewhere or dust that was shorting the on/off switch ...

I don't believe in spirits and such, but for some reason, ghost stories and movies completely freak me out.

I believe in spirits and Ghosts, and the ability to talk to them in the afterlife. That said, I also believe that everyone has a little bit of 'psychic ablility' to see things like that and comminicate with them, but I also believe that I apparently missed the boat on that one and I didn't receive a shred of it!!! Or if I did, I don't know how to access it.
I recently read 2 books by John Edward and one by Sylvia Brown, little did I know that I would be calling on the info that I got from their books in a short time, with my grandma.
I have had so many discussions with people who have had signs or saw people etc.
My boss' aunt committed suicide several years ago, and the last 3 years her cousin (the woman's daughter) has asked that a butterfly be at their family reunion and ever since that she has asked she has had a butterfly, not just show up, but sit on her shoulder or her shirt. Now it wouldn't be any stretch for a butterfly to show up outside on a beautiful day, but to sit on you for hours on end....... makes ya think.
And I truly believe that people come to you in your time of need, course I also think that anyone that I would want to come to me would tell me I was full of hogwash and when they get to that point wouldn't come to see me just to prove me wrong! ;)
Last week when my sister and brother in law told my youngest nephew (3 1/2 year old) that Grandma Josie had died in the nite, they said he just sat there and stared at them not saying anything like he didn't believe it. It makes me wonder if Grandma came to them to say goodbye. Not that I would ever be able to find out. I was hoping and praying with all my heart that she would come and visit me b/c I was closest to her but she didn't or hasn't yet. I truly believe things like that happen b/c again, my boss' aunt visited her grandson to tell them goodbye. He woke up crying that Grandma said goodbye and his mom told him to go back to bed b/c Grandma was fine and sure enough the time that he was awake and crying was around the time of death.
I truly believe that there is a life after death and that there has to be a way to communicate with them.
