This is in reference to THIS (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46169) post

Bear went to the vet today! He had an exam, vaccinations, de-worming, and heartworm testing...came to like $170 or something like that. He weighs 75 lbs. The good news is...he's healthy and heartworm free! He's been started on Heartguard. :) The bad news is...he humped the vet! :o:o He has a MAJOR problem with that!!!

He will be neutered and have his teeth cleaned in a couple of weeks, I hope the neutering will at least help some! Here's some pics of him at the vet:

Since he was such a good boy at the vet (despite the humping :o ) we took him to Petsmart. He was pretty scared at first but got over it once he smelled the goodies and saw other dogs.

He seemed really happy in his new dog run, it's much bigger than the nasty shack he used to live in. Lady was VERY excited to have a buddy living next to her. Hopefully eventually Melissa will be able to let them play together, she's not sure how they'd react to eachother right now though...maybe sometime Bear could even come and play with Nebo in my yard. For now they will both enjoy separate playtime and walks. :)

Lol that is so funny because my friend Katherien has a golden retriever, Hanson. He humped our other friend, Justine because (well at least we think) there was some dog scent on her from her dog. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNNY. (even though I wasn't there.....) lol but anyways it was hilarious. Glad to hear Ur puppy (don't mind me, i call everyone and anyone a puppy) is doing well!!!! ;D

Lol, yeah it's funny the first time...I'll admit the vet time was funny.....but he won't LEAVE me alone, I've never seen a dog so ermm obsessed! :o

Glad to hear Ur puppy (don't mind me, i call everyone and anyone a puppy) is doing well!!!! ;D

Thanks! He's not mine though, he's my friend's dog. And I call all dogs puppies too! ;)

I love happy endings! Bear totally deserves to start living the life of a pampered pet! :D

I know he wasn't perfectly behaved ;) but for a minimally socialized doggy I think it sounds like he did a very good job with all the activities today!

He's lucky he doesn't have heartworms - the cost for that treatment would make the $170 bill look pretty small!

I very much look forward to the day when you post pics of Bear, Lady & Nebo all playing together.

You might have said already but about how old is Bear again? He looks like a pretty young dog - no signs of grey that I can see. He's such a handsome boy!

Thanks for the update and pictures, Amy!

Yes considering the way he lived he's a great dog! He's very sweet!

I'm definitely glad he didn't have heartworms, that's one thing I was really worried about!

Bear is about 9 years old..I don't think he really looks that old though!

Bear is gorgeous and certainly does nt look his nine years! I'm glad he is doing so well and is finally getting the care he deserves. I know how long Melissa has fought for this and finally she won and Bear won!!!

Bear is so gorgeous! (But I'm a little partial toward these black Labbies, you know. :) )

I'm so glad he's a healthy boy starting a new, pampered life. I hope we get updates on him frequently!
