My story "Message in a Bottle" was submitted today to Ladies Home Journal. It's going to take up to 3 months before I hear anything.

I'm HOPING they publish it. I'll get paid AND recognized for my writing.

Donna, I hope that Ladies Home Journal publishes your story. Congratulations on being brave enough to send it in.
Have you ever tried to write something for one of the pet publications, like Cat Fancy?

I knew a man who use to write stories and had one published and Alfred Hitchcock (sp?) bought the story and made a show about it. He died in about 2000 and cleaning out his house we found the book and the rough draft of the story.. He was also a painter and he was color blind..... I have several of his paintings and they are amazing. I admire people who can do such talented things as write stories or paint pictures. I'd love to read your story.

The story took me 6 years to write. It's a true story about an adult child caring for an elderly alcoholic father. It took alot of blood, sweat and tears, but I had some great advice and coaching from my friends at the Hartford Courant.

My mentor, Susan Campbell, a columnist at the Courant told me, "Write till you can't write anymore then KEEP ON WRITING!!! If you have to walk away from it for a while, do it."

That's why it took me so long. I've been told I should also send it to other publications. I'm also keeping my fingers crossed.
