PeeWee seems to be in trouble again....

Pee Wee story (http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2004-03-19-pee-wee-guilty_x.htm?csp=27)

The former star of "Pee-wee's Playhouse" children's TV show will not be allowed unsupervised contact with minors during the probation period.

Under terms of a plea agreement approved by Superior Court Judge Carol H. Rehm, Reubens also agreed to pay a $100 fine and to enter a counseling program for one year.

Prosecutors dismissed a misdemeanor charge of child pornography that had carried a maximum sentence of a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

However Reubens, 51, agreed to register as a sex offender for the duration of his probation.

"We view both of these counts equally in terms of serious nature of child pornography," said Eric Moses, a spokesman for the city attorney's office.

The charge resulted from a search of Reubens' home in November 2001. Police seized about 30,000 images from his photography collection and personal computers.

Reubens, who did not appear in court Friday, pleaded guilty through his attorney to possession of obscene materials with the intent to distribute, and in a Thursday court hearing he acknowledged possessing 170 images of minors engaged in sexual conduct, Moses said.

Evidence seized included images of minors with their genitals exposed, Moses contended.

"That mischaracterizes the art collection seized," Reubens' lawyer, Blair Berk said Friday. "If that means a black-and-white tintype from 1901 with a young man of indeterminate, 17- to 19-year-old age, laying on the beach after having gone skinny-dipping ... then they got it."

"It was clear from the start that we, along with the many distinguished art experts supporting Paul's art photography collection, vehemently disagreed with the city prosecutor's view of what constitutes art," Berk said.

In a statement, Reubens said he was glad that the child pornography charge had been dismissed without "a costly circus-like trial."

"Taking responsibility by calling a few images in this collection 'obscene' and paying a $100 fine seemed like the sanest way to make it end," he said.

Once Reubens completes probation the conviction can be expunged from his record, Berk said.

In 1991, Reubens pleaded no contest to an indecent exposure charge after his arrest in Sarasota, Fla., for allegedly exposing himself in a movie theater.

Seems to me that he should have learned the last time

I still think Pee Wee is groovy. I didn't give a crap about the first charge, to be honest with you. And, from what's said in the article, it doesn't sound that bad to me. I don't know, I'm not judging either way. I'll still watch Paul Reubens in whatever movie. He was cool in "Blow."

I agree with you. I just thought it was funny. I remember in the eighties/early nineties, there was a famous photographer that documented everything her kids went thtrough... bath time, broken arms, losing baseball game, etc. People were up in arms about her because they said she was being abusive to her kids. Why? Because she 1) photographed them naken (in a BATH) and published the photos, and 2)photographed her kid in pain and published the photos.

I am not advocating child porn. That is a whole entity of its own. Its gross and filthy and someone needs to have their heads checked if it seems in any way seductive to them.

It sounds as if what the unlucky Pee Wee happened to have some old time art photos. Sheesh... when I did an online art search, I came across PLENTY of naked pictures that my blocking software didn't block... but since it was photographed with composition and light in mind, it was considered art instead of porn.

I wonder if the items in question really were porn or art... but since I'm not too interested in looking at the pictures myself, I'll go along the lines of thinking that they are once again using a famous person as a warning to people. Ya know, they gotta get someone's head to make the papers and then they can say "we're cracking down on this tyoe of crime."

Pee Wee was fined 100 dollars, given three years probation - for a misdemeanor...........

The police removed over 30,000 'art pics' from his home.....

Martha should have done HER plotting here in CA..

He also had to register as a sex offender.

What does he look like now???

Believe me, he's a WHOLE LOT scarrier without his make-up and costume on.

He sure has changed! The one I remember was that funny little suit with bow tie, I think, and a short hairstyle! That sure don't look like the Pee Wee Herman I remember! But then I am thinking about him in the movie that he had out, and that was the only time I ever saw him at all. Hmmm, so thats where he went.

I'm going to have to start watching more movies! I seen that movie when it first came on, but for the life of me I don't remember hardly any of it. Didn't somebody say he starred in ''Blow'', I have never seen that either. I do need to start watching more movies!

I was never a fan. I remember Peewee's playhouse, but didn't like it even as a kid. I don't know him from anything else.

I thing any kind of porn is wrong, but especially child pornography. As for exposing himself in public, I know this was a long time ago, but... if he wants to do that while watching a movie then stay home and rent one from Blockbuster.

Well, I'm not saying it's a good thing, but it wasn't like he was at a regular movie.

He was in an adult theater watching porn I believe. It's kinda what you're supposed to do??

I'm all for porn. Hey, it's safe and there's no risk of pregnancy. ha ha. Anyway, really, though, I never thought it was a big deal that he was wacking off in a theater. I doubt that he was the only one even right at that moment in that theater. I mean, sure, if you get caught, you should get punished. But, honestly, though, it doesn't make me think any less of a person. Child pornography is wrong, but, I'm still leaning towards the idea that he probably had mostly art, and, not really porn. But, I don't know and don't really care, either way, as harsh as that sounds. Like I said before, I still think Pee Wee rocks. :)
