They do, but not as much as a lot of other breeds.

There are very few breeds who don't shed at all. I read in a breed information book that Poodles and Kerry Blue Terriers are the only breeds who TRUELY don't shed. But the dogs with actual hair instead of fur don't really shed either (maltese, shih tzu, etc).

Yes, the shorthairs shed year round. The long haired ones shed less than the shorthairs, and they only shed seasonally. I always hear that their shedding isn't that bad, but I have a friend with a chihuahua and it sheds everywhere.

I comb my chihuahua with a flea comb to get any loose hair off him, doing that he doesn't shed too much.

I know a kerry blue who does defiantly shed. Poodles not so much.

I had a yorkie when I was growing up and he hardly ever shed and when he did is was clumps that were easy to pick up.
