Sunshine Finds A New Home!!!

Hi everyone.:) My friend and co-worker told me that she wanted to adopt another cat so I told her that I'd help her find the purrfect one. She already has a 1 year old black male cat named Nacho and a 3-4 year old white male Pomeranian dog. The cat has been wearing out the dog lately so he needs a new playmate.

She also told me that she wanted a cat similar to my Sunny. I went to petfinder.com and looked at all of the young male orange cats. I kept going back to one named Sunshine. His personality sounded purrfect and he's also very cute. I e-mailed his foster mom and we were able to go meet him today. Since his foster mom has fostered him since he was 1 day old, she's become very attached to him and needed to be sure that he was going to a good home. He's now 6 months old. His birthday is on Aug. 25th which is also the same as my Sunny's birthday.:D He's also very little for his age and only weighs about 3-4lbs.

He was a bit scared at first but after about 30 minutes he became much more relaxed around us. His foster mom has 5 cats and 2 dogs and is also constantly fostering kittens and cats so she knew that Sunshine needed a new home were he would receive the attention that he deserves. She was also fostering 6 kittens that are only 2 1/2 weeks old and I got to bottle feed them. I wasn't able to take their pictures though. I did take quite a few pictures of Sunshine and some of his foster's mom's cats too.

Yes, she took him home today and since her birthday's coming up I paid the adoption fee for her.:) His foster mom and her friend started crying when they handed him over to us and I also got very teary eyed. I felt like we were taking a baby away from his parents. I reassured her that I'd keep her updated and send her pictures of him too.:) I can't wait to hear how he's fitting in his new home.

Your pictures of him are beautiful. He does look a little apprehensive, but so sweet. No wonder his foster mummy was sad to give him up.

I am in love! He is adorable and sooooooo sweet looking! (I saw all that pink in some of the pic's) How can you part with them when you had them from 1 day till now? That would break my heart! He would be mine forever! What a lovely gift for a birthday, something she will enjoy for many, many years! You are a sweetheart of a friend for doing that! Thanks for all of the nice comments everyone. I'll keep you posted as to how he's doing. Since he already knows his name, I think she's going to keep it. She may end up calling him Sunny or Mr. Shine too.:)

Great! I was just about to ask if you would keep us updated (with pictures).

I bet it was hard for the foster mom. One reason I know I couldn't do it.

Sunshine's first night went very well.:) He bonded with Ann's son. Her son was lying on the floor and Sunshine came up to him and climbed up on his chest. He then went inside his t-shirt and stuck his head out of the neck hole and went to sleep.:)

Ann's dog Oliver loves Sunshine. He's acting like he's his mother and has been washing him.:) Ann's cat Nacho has been hissing at him but is very curious about him. I'm sure he'll give in soon and they'll be friends in no time.

Sunshine slept with Ann last night and was purring so loudly that he woke her up. He was also kneading her blanket.:) I hope to take more pictures in a few weeks. I want to show his foster mom how he's getting along with his 2 new brothers.:)

Oh what a wonderful day for Sunshine and your friend and you!!! I love happy endings ... but I also know the sorrow that his foster mom felt when she turned him over to your friend. Bittersweet for sure!

This is wonderful! I'm so pleased to hear about Sunshine's first night with his new family. It sounds great!

It's so good of you to take pictures for his foster mummy! She must be so upset just now. You can't raise a baby from days old and not become emotionally involved.

Yeah! Another kitty finds a wonderful home! What a great story KAK! And the description of his first night is so sweet. Sounds like Nacho is the only one that needs to come around a bit, but I don't think that will take long.
