Hi all, it's been another one of those hectic weeks around here, but I wanted to let you know how Tubby's vet visit went on Saturday.

The vet finally called with the blood test results, and I'm happy to report that "his blood test results were wonderful!" (her words) :D She even said one of his kidney levels is down from last time. I got a copy of the blood test and the BUN is up from 39 to 41, but the Creatinine is down from 3.2 to 2.8! She said everything else looked real good and even when she saw him she said he looked real good for such an old guy. :D So I guess my old guy is going to be around for awhile yet - yipee!!!!

Now for a little story. We were in the waiting room, with Tubby on his leash on my lap. A guy came in with the most adorable little Boxer puppy, all bouncy and excited. Tubby seemed interested, so I asked the guy if I put Tubby on the floor if he'd let the puppy get close to see what Tubby would do. Well....the first attempt the guy let the puppy get too close and he/she started climbing all over Tubby!  But the only protest Tubby made was when I pulled him away from the puppy! The guy then kept the puppy at a little bit of a distance. It was so cute because he/she was just so bouncy and excited and doing little yips at Tubby and doing that thing where they crouch down on their front legs with their butt in the air - sooo cute! Anyway, Tubby just sat and watched the puppy. Never made a move to swat him/her or hiss or anything. Another lady there with a scared tuxie cat glued to the back of his/her carrier couldn't believe how calm Tubby was. Neither could I or the guy with the puppy. It was just too cute and I so wish I had my camera.

I think Tubby needs a puppy.......;) :D

Oh, and she gave me some Cosequin for Cats for him. It's a supplement for his joints. I mentioned how it seems like he's a little stiff and asked her about arthritis. She gave me the Cosequin and said it should help, but since it's a supplement and not a drug, it might be up to 6 weeks before I notice any results. He's just been slipping more and it seems a little more unsteady on his feet than usual. The good news is this stuff must taste good because he just laps it up (it's a powder I put on his wet food in the morning) and Peanut will even come over and clean up his plate, which is doubly amazing since she doesn't like the wet food that he gets. So if picky Peanut says it's good - it's gotta be good. :D

Way to go Tubby!
His new medicine sounds like my Glucosamine. It took a few weeks before it started helping me. I hope he does real well on his new medicine.

What kind of puppy would he like to have, do you think?;) :D

Debbie, Debbie, Debbie......

Don't you know that when you signed up for Pet Talk you also agreed to carry a camera wherever you go??? :D ;)

So glad Tubby is in good health. I really need to get Speckles in again for blood tests but I have to save up for it.

Oh, and about getting Tubby a puppy, better check with the Princess Peanut first. We wouldn't want any hurt feelings....:D

Debbie, that is good news about Tubby. Amazing how he acted with the puppy! You don't see that very often. Grover and Stubby would have their claws dug deep into me!

It is a shame you didn't have a camera with you, I know that would have been some good pictures!

Anyway great news for Tubby and you.

That's such good news about Tubby. Keep up the good work sweetie.
I just love it also when a dog goes into play mode, with the front down and the butt up.
It must have been so cute to see the puppy crawling on Tubby.

I'm so glad to hear that Tubby is in excellent health.:D This is the kind of vet visit that I like to hear about.
Since Terry has already told you no more cats, maybe he wouldn't mind it if you brought home a puppy.:)

YIPPEEEEEE!!!! Good news from the vet!! Way to go Tubby!! It sounds like you even had some fun on this vet trip. You played with a puppy!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/eek.gif How cool is that?? You're a good boy Tubby and such a sweetheart!

Stubby would have jumped on the puppy's head and had him for dinner! As a matter of fact, seven of mine would have beaten that poor puppy up!!! I have bad kitties!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/tongue.gif

That's wonderful news :) I hope Tubby is around for many, many years.

How would Ms Peanut react to a new puppy in the house ... ? ! ;)

I know, I know....sorry. ;) I meant to grab it but then I was running late and Tubby wanted to eat the grass instead of getting in the car and......only excuses. Next time I will most definitely have my camera handy. :D

Thanks everybody! I gave Tubby extra skritchies and smoochies last night for being such a good healthy boy. Needless to say, he didn't like the smoochies too much, but really enjoyed the skritchies. :D

As for the puppy, I think Tubby would enjoy one about the size of this baby Boxer. Tubby was actually bigger than the puppy, so that would be a good size to "train him right" so by the time he got bigger than Tubby he'd know the rules. ;) :D

However, Princess Peanut would not be happy at all about the addition of a puppy, especially such a bouncy one! And Lord Terry has layed down the law about no more critters in the house until the current two are gone, so unfortunately Tubby will have to get his puppy fill at the vet's. :( :D

LOL, Debbie Grover loves my chihuahuas, she can whoop them and chase them around the room. She likes them smaller than her, me thinks Grover is a little bit of a bully!
