Is you cat left or right pawed??

Ed is a lefty.

I read about a study where cats were put at the top of a staircase and were observed as to which paw they used to lead off with.

Has anyone payed attention to this?

Jazz and Scout seem to favor the right paw but my big ole Ripley is a southpaw. He always fights and leads off with the left.

I'll have to give it a try tonight

I have no stairs in my apartment but I suppose I could put Max on a chair and see which foot he starts off with. To tell you the truth it certainly hasn't been a burning question of mine.

just tested her. She used her left paw more than her right

I was hoping she was a righty like me!

Nakita is definately right paw oriented. Don't ask me why I know this. My brain only stores the weirdest details!

Hmm... I'm going to have to check as they do sleep yin and yang: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid95/p88e4f9b2f49c749495bd8f1163e7c343/fa2309af.jpg

My guys definately have preferences. Percy and Norm are right pawed. Willie and Tiger are also right pawed but I think it has a lot to do with their sight limitations - both have sight only in their right eyes. Pippin has no preference - he's just excited when he hits anything with either paw!

OK, I caved. I tested Max out by having him jump of 3 different surfaces. He's definitely right-pawed.

Then I tested out Speckles by playing with her to see which paw she used the most. No surprise here, she uses both.

LOL - they look like they are giving each other "high-fives" - too cute!

Ally and Connor both seem to be "right-pawed" but the results are inconclusive - I have already interrupted nap-time to check their belly hair for another thread, so I am in danger of having a couple of fingers amputated by their claws if I bug them again!

Fister is left pawed. :)

.... And how about you? Are you left ot right handed?

I'm right handed. My mom was left handed, but in school, she was forced to learn to write with her right hand. Back then, they considered it to be wrong to use the left hand to do the writing. :( But I remember, she still cut bread with her left. :)

It figures, I always think about things about two days later.....

I felt sorry for my brother....the nuns beat the crap outta him for being a lefty...It has to do with a belief that lefty's are evil....sinister.

Gini,

Have a cup of joe and then play with the kitties!;)

I shall have to watch the Fur Kids! I know that JJ3 is a South Paw , as when he fights or plays , that is his paw of preference!

Felicia is ambidexterious (sp). In the litter box, she digs using either paw.
