YES! I FINALLY DID IT! The ratties have a new palace! I started the project around 5 o'clock yesterday, my friend came over and helped me cut out the wood and linoleum. We stopped around 11 o'clock last night. I am just finishing up some things right now, like adding the door latches. I need to put the holes in the levels tomorrow, my dad has to bring home a big hole saw bit from work. Hopefully by tomorrow night or Tuesday the ratties can move into their new penthouse. The cage cost a whopping $62!

And this whole time Sammy has been the biggest help...Batting screws around, chewing on linoleum strips, crawling around in the cage, chewing on the chicken wire-yep a big help alright!

For some reason the camera adds a weird blue tint to the cage:

I will post more pictures once the ratties actually get to move in.

What do you think of the abode!?

Thanks.

The cage is an old bookshelf that was sitting downstairs for millions of years. All I had to do was knock off the carboard backing and add sturdier wood. Then I had to cut a frame out of the solid wood doors and staple on the chicken wire. Then I had to glue on the linoleum. Ugh, that linoleum is a PAIN! It took me and my friend about two hours to cut out the four pieces from the huge roll I bought.

I can't wait til the ratties get to move in, I am so excited! :D

Ah, I am at school and I want to go home so bad and finish the cage!! Knowing my luck my dad will forget the hole saw bit at work.

I really hope the children will like the cage! :D I know my back will love the cage, since I won't have to be bent over constantly to play with them or clean the cage!! :p

Well, they have moved in, and I got tons of pictures, but I am unable to post them right this second. Man oh man, do they LOVE it, they will not stop smelling around! It is so hard to get good pictures of them in the cage because they won't stop moving, lol!!!

So, I will post the pictures later on. :D
