Is the 1 year 'Gotcha Day' of a silly, goofy pup, named Nala!
It was a Friday, half day of school, dad and I went to the HS like always.
There was a litter of puppies, and the one that caught our eye was the smallest, skinniest, and lightest color. Also the most active, she was bouncing around while her littermates were just snoozin. Couldn't tell now though, as I type this she's snoring!
I don't know if my parents had this planned, if they finally decided it was time, but I didn't bother to ask questions! I was just happy to have her.
We asked one of the guys that cleaned kennels about the puppies, and he said they were all adopted. My dad told me to remember her collar number, so I did. I repeated it to myself as we walked up to the office.
They were very busy, and as soon as I finished saying her collar number to the lady, she checked and handed us papers! Much to my surprise, my dad sarted filling them out. I was so envious just to go out there and grab her, but we couldn't until the adoption was complete. While filling out the paper, dad told me to go grab a bag of IAMs puppy food, since that's what they feed them.
$65, plus $5 for food, and me almost peeing my pants with excitement, all three of us were on our way home! Of course, this is the only day I hadn't brought my camera with me. I'm bringing it everytime I go, for now on!
Simba was fine with her from day one, they've never fought seriously, just play. He's always had that "leave me alone"attitude, towards her, but he's always had that. Other times though, it's hard to get them to leave eachother alone. He's such a good boy with her, and I'm very proud of them both.
It's amazing how much she's grown over 1 year. She was around 13 lbs when we got her, now I think she's around 50. I'll know for sure next week because we're schedualing a Vet appointment for her check-up.
I remember my mom's reaction. I picked Nala up and said "Look!". She said, sarcastically, "What is that, a cat?".
I wish I could go back just a bit... I think I'd take a thousand more pictures, give a thousand more hugs, and kiss those sweet, soft pink/black paws a thousand more times. I love her so much now, but she's grown so fast... way too fast. She's my gorgeous little, big, baby - and will always be.
Here's to a lifetime with us, Nala! :D
