I've been meaning to post on here about Boomer's toe for a while, but keep forgetting about it. On his right front paw he has one toe that is a good deal longer than any of his other toes. He is not declawed except for his back claws which had the tendons snipped before i met him (that's a whole other can of worms). I'll post pictures below. The vet told the previous owners that whatever was wrong with Boomer's toe doesn't hurt him and won't cause any problems, but I'm curious to know if any of you have seen something similar to this?

Now that is interesting! I don't think I have ever seen one like that before. I guess if it doesn't bother him than its no big deal. It's just a tad bit more of him to love!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

I'm so glad you got your new camera! We are getting some GREAT pictures!!!

Cute little feetsies!

I have seen cats that have extra toes, I *think* it is called polydactal or something like that. Their feet look similar, some of the toes are longer.

The classic Greek statues all have a second toe that is longer than the big one. So I suppose Boomer is classic Greek ;)

I know a great many people with gangle-toe syndrome, this just must be the cat manifestation:) Human gangle-toe syndrome has always weirded me out a little, but on Boomer I think it's cute!:p

How different... but very cute as well! As long as it causes no pain, it just makes Boomer unique!;)

Remember, cats were worshipped as gods in ancient Greece - which probably makes Boomer a classic Greek God! :)
His special paw looks SO cute!

That is SO cute. Connor has the SAME toes - his middle ones are MUCH bigger and longer than the rest (on both back feet and one front one). I thought he was the ONLY cat with these funny toes!

I am not sure if Boomer's is less functional than a normal toe - Connors claws on the overgrown toes do not retract, so he has badly damaged most of my wooden furniture whilst jumping on it!

I have been trying to get a decent picture of it all day, but this was the best I could do - Connor was NOT co-operating!:(

so cute all those kitty toes..I want to kiss ever one of them:cool: Not to open a can of worms by any means but I've never heard of tendons being cut. What purpose (however misguided:rolleyes: )does that serve?
Boomer and Connor must be very gifted to have been given such special feetsies!

Is it just me since I had a bad drive home in horrible traffic or does it look like Connor is giving us the finger? I'm sorry but that just struck me so funny. Now I've got the giggles thinking about a cat giving someone the finger. LOL!!

The vet here thought that snipping the tendons was a more "humane" form of declawing:mad:   . He gets to keep all his toe digits, but because of the cut tendons he is unable to extend his back clawsies to scratch people/things. The claws still need to be trimmed regularly because they grow just like normal claws. Yeah.... like I said, this was before I adopted him from his previous owners. I hope that he won't experience any long term effects from it.

I'm glad that my Boomie isn't the only kitty with that funny toe. I better not let him see the thing about Greek statues or he'll be even more of a handful! (*snicker* no pun intended):)

I have never seen this before, and now two kitties with the same type of toes.

I guess if it is not hurting Boomer then I would leave it be. I am sorry to hear that Conor's won't retract, I hope e is OK.

Connor says thankyou to Steffi N for the foot massage (passed on by Meowmie), and promises jazzcat that he is definately NOT giving anyone on PT the "finger"!:D
