All these days have passed and I have yet to meet my new barrel racing teacher. I hear that she teaches very well, and that she used to be a barrel racer. She is supposed to know a lot. The thing is, she won't understand that I have my own way of doing things. I don't slide my hand COMPLETELY down on the reins, I slightly slide my hand down, and CAREFULLY lean the reins against Freeway's ( my horse) neck. I don't always keep my heels down in the saddle because it is more comfortable sometimes when I don't have my heels pointed down. I just hope that she will understand that I do things my way, on my time. It may take me a year, it may take me a week. But I WILL do it. Just tell me how to do it and then leave and let me practice. Then when I want to show you I will call for you. I just hope that she understands that. I have a practice rodeo coming up, and I want to be ready... I will be ready if I am not pushed. This will be the first race that I do with my new barrel horse. I have gone to the rodeo arena and practiced... We are already pretty good. I just don't want someone coming in and changing everything that I do. I got to where I am right now by listening to myself and my horse. Not by listening to everyone else. This is just my first entry in A Barrel Racer's Diary. I will try to come everyday and post something about my life as a barrel racer. Anyone is welcome to put their thoughts in. I would be very happy to hear from you guys.:)

( Below is a picture of my barrel horse and I going around the 2nd barrel in the cloverleaf pattern)

There is more than one way to get around those barrels, so listen to her advice, but do what's best for you and Freeway :)

I'm looking forward to seeing more diary entries and photos of you two!

I am so glad to hear from you! I love that pic! Do you know how lucky you are? That's the way I wanted to grow up but it wasn't to be. I think you should do what you've been doing to a certain extent but you should also be willing to try the things the trainer is telling you because they know what they're talking about. But, don't let her rush you, either. Maybe you could talk to her a little and tell her how you feel? So, good luck and I look forward to seeing more pics.

Hey Val!!:D I am so glad to hear from you too... How have you been?:) How are all of the furkids?:p ( Back to the subject):D
I will try to be willing to try new things. I will also try to talk to her a bit, and let her know that pushing me wouldn't make my training better. It really was nice to hear from you though. Please let me know how Duke and your arabian are doing. :)

We are going to meet our new barrel racing instructer tomorrow at the arena. I mean, I met her today, I just haven't seen her work yet. She is really nice accually! :D I am so glad. And she said that she absolutely adores Freeway, and that she already knows that we will do great at the rodeos.:D :D
I talked to her about what I do different. She said whatever works. I am accually looking more forward to going now. It makes me feel 100% better now that I know that she is nice and understands.

Freeway is great. I didn't ride today. The wind was going at 40 miles an hour! I am serious! It was a little above 40 miles per hour. Branches were falling and it would be too much of a risk. So I got all of the horses in stall and shut and tripple tied every door in the whole barn. The wind was so rough that I got trown back against the wall of the barn when I tried to close the doors. The horses didn't like the wind either. I was seriously thinking that a tornado was coming. I was accually kind of worried. I don't feel bad about not riding though. She needed a rest for tomorrow. I usually let her rest before going to the arena. Well, I always do.;) :)

This completes the entry for today.:)

Okay here is my entry for today

the same here about the wind so no riding today. Instead I tyed up tornado and he got a complete grooming and then I walked him. I was going to lunge him but he has been acting why to bad lately!! . :( :( I seriosly think its time for him to go to the vet but I am really nervose because unlike when you go and get other studs gelded he would have to have a type of surgery.:( So I am really scard for him but anyways that concludes my entry for today I don't have a pic for you but I do have a peom

They run wild and free
like a gust of wind
aching to leave

over mountains and plains
their home heritage is their only aim
to be there with the wind calling their name

they run from place to place
seeking a spot to graze
only the sweetest grass will do for these
mustangs

they run wild and free
like a gust of wind]
aching to leave
