What's the thing on his paw for? Did he have a catheter in for something?

Jen,
Why happy and sad faces? Cause of his little bandage?

Because he is dying and he looks so full of life.

Ditto! I love him!!! He has such a sweet expression.

I think he's going to surprise you and live for months and months and months. I can see how he'd be going downhill at a shelter where nobody cares about him, but now he has the best loving home ever....and we all know that love can work miracles.

Hugs and smoochies to you sweetie. :D

I was trying to put the same thoughts into words.

Love works miracles, but it's the people with the love in their hearts that make miracles happen.

I had missed the news about Bob. So glad that you can be his bit of heaven here on Earth; I pray for your and your husband's strength and comfort during this difficult time and for Bob to revel in the comfort you provide. Hang in there. {{{hugs}}}

I'm trying to think of something original and profound to say but the words escape me now.

What a beautiful boy you are Bob and you look so comfortable. I think you do have an instinct that your time with us is limited and I pray that when the time comes, your passing will be peaceful with the ones that love you.

Bless you PIF for all you are doing for him.

I know how sad you are that this is happening to Bob and I know it's hard on you, but it's so comforting to know that he'll be with you and not in that scary, awful, unloving shelter.

Give him as much love as your heart can bear. (We need a teary eyed smilie here at Pet Talk.)

I am so sorry to hear about Bob's condtion...:(
He seems to be such a gorgeous and wonderful boy, crying out for you, when you enter the door to welcome you...

It's so sad that most often the best are taken away to early from us, but however they all leave something behind for us in our hearts and minds...this guy shows you all his love and it is not measured by the time he spends with you, it will go on forever.
He just waited for someone to show him how wonderful love is, before he leaves and Jen, you are doing it purrfectly...

I bow to your strength and unconditional love, you make one cat very very happy...love makes a living, not time...

Reading all of the posts on this thread, and the others about Bob, just leave me in awe. Sweet little Bob has touched so many hearts in just the past couple of days. Just the thought that he COULD have ended his life in a cage, alone and scared, brings me near tears. His story is simultaneously one of the saddest and happiest I've heard in a long time.

What you've done for him is so amazing. Not just that you're providing him with the love and care he needs, but that you were both willing to take on the emotional burden of knowing that he won't be with you for long. :( That in itself is a HUGE sacrifice.

Be well, little Bob. A whole lot of people love you.

This is definately the face of a kitty who is happy, content, feels very well loved, fells safe, and knows that he is going to be in the best of hands for the rest of his happy days.

Thankyou Gary. Bob loved his visit and the juicy steak you got him made his year.

Sadly Bob is packing tonight, as tomorrow, he will be joining Caramel, Mr Stray & Butterscotch.

This thread makes me so sad, but I am happy that poor Bob could spend his last days clean, with good food, loved and with many scritchies and purring. :)

He's a cute boy. Sorry. I have to cry now.

You are both wonderful people to let Bob have a real home for his last days.

He will be happy when he is able to rejoin with his owner at the bridge.

I am just so sorry, and just speechless. He looks so sweet in your lap, with your hand on him. He acts like he is safe and knows that you are going to do the right thing for him.

Again, I am so sorry, may he run free of illness at the bridge.

He'll remember the wonderful things you did for him, the care, the snuggles, the treats...and that is what counts. He will remember that he was loved and that so many people cared about him.
The Tribe says Godspeed Bob. And thank you, Jen & Steve, for taking one more in, even if only for a few days. It made all the difference to Bob.

The Story of The Starfish...
Once there was a man walking along a long, deserted beach on a huge ocean. There had been a storm the day before and the huge waves had washed the starfish up onto the sand. There were starfish stranded as far as he could see.
Up ahead, he found a young boy, picking up starfish and running into the waves to release them back in to the ocean.

The old man laughed at him, saying "Boy, there are millions of these starfish on the beach!. You'll never save them all! What difference can you make?"

The boy never looked up, but picked up another starfish and headed toward the waves. Then he stopped and looked into the old man's eyes. "What I'm doing will make a difference to this one.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Bob is now with my Dashiell and all others that we have lost and hopefully we will be with them again! If I am wrong about this you will let me know? I am guessing he is no longer on our plane...but on a higher? What a beautiful cat who asks for nothing more than to be cared for..you are a doll and an angel for being there for him and he will never let you down..he will oversee all your deeds and make sure every thing comes out ok! I know that and hope you can know that too.
