I am in Entrepreneurship at school, and we are supposed to start our own business, so I'm starting a rat food business. I won't go into too much detail about it. It's going to be a sole proprietorship, and home-based. It will probably be a private business, but I'm making plans to sell it in stores anyways (You never know :) ).

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would like to take my survey? I know it's kind of a waste of time, but we are supposed to do some research on what the public thinks. So please, help me out!

Here it is. It's only ten questions (or 11 if you count 4b). Just reply with the answers. Thanks so much!

1. How many rats do you own?
2. Do you want your rats to eat the healthiest food available?
3. Do you feel that it is difficult to find a healthy COMMERCIAL rat food?
4a. Do you make your own rat food?
4b. (Do not answer if you answered NO for 4a)! Do you wish that there was a better option so that you wouldn’t have to make your own food?
5. Do you feel that your rat (or one or some of your rats) could be in better health?
6. Do you have an overweight rat?
7. Do you breed? AND/OR do you care for baby rats, or pregnant/lactating does?
8. Have you ever owned a rat that had urinary tract problems (UTI, blatter infection, kidney problems, etc)?
9. How much money are you willing to spend a month on rat food alone?
10. Is money an issue?

EDIT: I forgot to ask "What food do you feed (homemade, storebought)" :o Please answer this too!

They have a staple diet of lab blocks with some extras...so no..not really.

1. How many rats do you own?
Two beautiful girls!

2. Do you want your rats to eat the healthiest food available?
Of course!

3. Do you feel that it is difficult to find a healthy COMMERCIAL rat food?
Yes, but it's much better now that I've found a local place that carries Harlan Teklad. It's a bit out of the way for me though. :-/

4a. Do you make your own rat food?
No.

5. Do you feel that your rat (or one or some of your rats) could be in better health?
Yes

6. Do you have an overweight rat?
Nope!
7. Do you breed? AND/OR do you care for baby rats, or pregnant/lactating does?
At work I do.

8. Have you ever owned a rat that had urinary tract problems (UTI, blatter infection, kidney problems, etc)?
No

9. How much money are you willing to spend a month on rat food alone?
Since I found the 33lb bags of Harlan for $20, I spend about $5 a month. I would be willing to spend whatever it took probably up to about $75

10. Is money an issue?
With vet bills, it can be! I don't make very much of it, and I have an emergency vet fund, but it dwindles quickly since one of my rats has Mycoplasmosis and flares up every few weeks.

1. How many rats do you own? currently 5

2. Do you want your rats to eat the healthiest food available? yes

3. Do you feel that it is difficult to find a healthy COMMERCIAL rat food? kind of, i can only find good food at a couple sparse pet shops

4a. Do you make your own rat food? i buy a mix but feed them lots of homemade &/or people food to better it

4b. (Do not answer if you answered NO for 4a)! Do you wish that there was a better option so that you wouldn’t have to make your own food? yes

5. Do you feel that your rat (or one or some of your rats) could be in better health? no

6. Do you have an overweight rat? no

7. Do you breed? AND/OR do you care for baby rats, or pregnant/lactating does? have breed & raised in the past, but not since Nov. 02, have only cared for a couple baby fosters since

8. Have you ever owned a rat that had urinary tract problems (UTI, blatter infection, kidney problems, etc)? no

9. How much money are you willing to spend a month on rat food alone? depends, with what i feed now i only pay about $10.00 a bag a month BUT i feed them lots of my own food, but i am single so they just get my leftovers (which is a lot its hard to cook for just one) not sure how much $ that is. BUT if i were to feed ONLY store bought rat mix i would spend about $25-$35 a month for my 5 rats.

10. Is money an issue? kind of, i mean i dont want cheap stuff but im not a millionare

EDIT: I forgot to ask "What food do you feed (homemade, storebought)" Please answer this too!
