I thought it would be cool to make (another) thread about your pet's cages. I love seeing pictures of other peoples cages! If you don't have any pictures, discribe your cage, and what's all in it.

Post pictures of small animal, reptile, and bird cages! I love them all!

Here are my rats cages. This is their indoor cage they are in now, and I just hate it. I will be making them a new cage shortly.
http://members.aol.com/OrliBloom177/cage.JPG
Their indoor cage is furnished with a comfy perch, 2 wooden perches, Super Pet chinchilla dust bath hut, Super Pet waffle block large house, Super Pet large igloo, log hut, PVC tubes, and a hammock (currently in the wash, so it's not in the picture, which I took 10 min ago). Once they get their bigger cage they will have A LOT more toys!
This is their outdoor cage they play in on nice days in the spring, summer, and early fall:
http://members.aol.com/OrliBloom177/OutdoorCage.jpg
This is their cage up at the cottage, VERY teeny, but there is no room for a large one, it's temporary for them anyhow...
http://members.aol.com/OrliBloom177/cottagecage2.JPG
This is their larger cage I use for them in the summer, it's a woodbox on the porch:
http://members.aol.com/OrliBloom177/cottagecage1.JPG

So...those are my current cages for my children.

YOUR TURN! :D

Luli's cage is two stories and is white wire. I have her wheel on the bottom along with her water bottle. And, the second floor is all towels and/or shirts or socks and a rattan style circular nest thing that she eats and keeps food in. There's actually a sort of third floor loft where I keep her bowl. I'll post a photo as soon as I can. And, my hamster is in two plastic and wire cages joined by a tube. He has a wheel and wooden bridge thing in one side and a roll-a-nest and plastic orange hideaway (it actually looks like an orange) in the other. His food is on the top in a clear plastic area and he sleeps all over the place in that fluffy nesting stuff. Again, I'll post photos.

And here is a picture of Little Bird's old cage. I bought him a new one, which is almost like this one ... but white instead of black.

This is Piper's cage:
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid62/p9f025dc40008972736fde7e7afad131d/fc21f6f2.jpg

It looks a little different now (larger litter pan, a cardboard box filled with hay in the top left, and another water dish). They toys vary... I try to change them frequently so he never gets bored with them.

Each level is 48x23x48 and total weight equals about 70lbs!!

Um...

A) Rats should not be housed in a tank, especially one so small!!
B) There is no way a 5 gallon tank is 4 feet long, more like a foot and a half long
C)

Everyone's cage pictures are very nice! Love them all!

Aquariums make horrible houses for rats. I really hope it is bigger than 5 gallons, because that is insanely cruel to house two rats in a 5 gallon tank..wayyyyyyyyyy too small. My male rats would take up more than a 5 gallon tank with their bodies alone....

Please post some pictures of the tank soon, I am worried about the ratties! :o

It's probably a 50 gallon tank. My friend has a society of hermit crabs in a 50 gallon tank, and it sounds like what you have. I would think tanks would get too hot for rats. Wire cages are open and better ventilated.

I have to dissagree here. Tanks are superb houses for does with babies, rats just past weaning age but not yet old enough for a wire cage etc. A 40 gallon long tank is perfectly fine for a pair of rats. I keep my does with babies in ten gallon tanks, and they are just fine.

Yes, I know they are excellent for does and the pups, that is what I housed my pregnant/nursing females in too. I would never house my rats (forever) in a tank for the main fact that the ventilation sucks compaired to wire cages and they can't climb around as much as they can on a wire cage. My does are horribly hyper and would die in a tank from borem from not being able to monkey around on the bars. Just my preference/opinion along with many others out there....

LOL, I guess rats are too smart for a C&C cage. :) I made one for my guinea pigs though - they don't even need a top to it - they can't get out! I'll post pics tomorrow, because they don't like it when I use the flash - it scares the poor girls! So I have to wait until it's light out. :)

Here's Vern's cage:
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid105/paa01b4ad34d395caf0850238615d5f37/f97de114.jpg

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid102/pd19ede445e2a2fe2e6691b00200baef5/f9cc1ff2.jpg

Of course George have a cage much like Vern's only a little smaller. I don't have any pictures of his though.

This is the only one I have of ChiChi's cage, it's not that good, but you get the idea.
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid105/p98bf6556a624fd2bd0d73606403f8e0f/f97de111.jpg

And ChiChi inside it, that shelf above her swings, she loves it. she runs across it as fast as she can tring to get it to swing harder. It's funny to watch, but noisy.

here's one of my shots of the reptile room - this isn't ALL of my cages, but they're all vision enclosures, save the Iguana's cage.

I am in the process of building a much larger enclosure for the Iguana though. :) That white bucket was the old reservoir for my misting system - I've since replaced it with an orange bucket since I broke off the valve on the bottom of it.

prettykitty1, do you mean a tank topper on the top of a ten gallon? That's deffinately too small for two rats. I use that for my babies just weaned from mom. Please try to get them something a little bit bigger.

I'll try to get pics up of my cages tomorrow. :)

ILoveReptiles,
Where did you buy cages like that? Those are really cool! What kind of lizards/snakes do you have?

BunnyMum
02-29-2004, 03:00 PM
I don't have a pic, but my 2 bunnies have a Foster & Smith Gorilla Tough X-pen that's 8 feet long by 4 feet wide by 4 feet high. They are in that about half the time, and running around loose about half the time. We have four levels in our house with lots of stairs, so they can't be free roaming all the time - otherwise they would be.

Kevinrats: I got them from www.bigappleherp.com

They're all vision cages. Solid polyethyline single piece construction, waterproof, chemical proof, heat resistant.. Very nice cages, but on the pricey side.

And I have 4 Leopard Geckos, 2 Ball Pythons, 1 Brazilian Rainbow Boa, 1 Guyana Red-Tail Boa, and 1 Giant Green Iguana.

The iguana's cage is the Iguana Home, which I also bought from bigappleherp.com
