I don't know Cass, there have been several not able to post pictures and started using Photobucket. I posted this one from imagestation. Just want to see if it shows up.

I don't think that is the case, Cass, because there is no problem with people's signatures, right now. Mine is an Imagestation image that Popcornbird created. If they weren't allowing it, it wouldn't show up, and it is.

Hrmm, when I posted them at another site they didn't show up and no one could see them, but they can be seen here. Strange.

First ~

CALM Down!!

ImageStation seems fine this morning.
And their Terms of Service clearly state they do NOT allow cross-posting or the use of images stored on their system being *posted* on Forums such as PT.

LUCKY for us - they seem to "look the other way" and don't very often object...
THANKs, ImageStation!

Now LOOK at what you're doing when you try to *post* pictures...
Are you doing it properly?

1) Must use the PHOTO Location - NOT the web page address in your browser window.

2) Must use an flag in FRONT of the Photo Location

3) Must use an flag BEHIND the Photo Location

4) There can be NO SPACES ANYWHERE in the entire line from the [IMG...allthewayto../IMG]

Lastly - READ the Tutorial at >>>
POSTING PICTURES on Pet Talk... (http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/showthread.php?threadid=7406)

Oh, and DON'T write to ImageStation to "complain"!
WE'LL help you!

Thanks Phred, but I have been posting pics from Imagestation for ages, and I know how to use a forum and how to post pics. ;) :p

Everyone here can attest to having seen plenty of pictures from me. :) BUT, when I go to post at another forum they do not show up. Here they work fine, you can see I just posted pics of Flower my hedgie in Pet General, but when posted to another forum they do not show up.

I never remember reading in their rules that direct linking was not allowed. In fact, I actually remember them stating it was allowed, but I will go read again.

I tried posting a picture of Beau. It worked okay for me.

Yes I can see it. The pictures I post here on Pet Talk work perfectly fine, but when I try to post them at another site they do not. Hrmm, maybe Imagestation has favorites? hehe I think they just like our forum the best! :D

I think that imagestaion may have certain larger sites blocked from direct linking. The reason why I think this is because imagestation doesn not work with livejournal. I've never been able to post any of my photos from imagestation on there, so I switched over to shutterfly.

Is there a "picture uploader" at the other site? I go to one that has that, and my imagestation photos won't show up. I use their picture uploader instead and they work fine.

Yep Micki! I just decided to do it that way. I may just go with PhotoBucket as suggest by Pops. ;)

I thought that Kay posted a while ago and said imagestation was going to delete all her pics if she didnt remove the direct links as they're no longer allowing direct linking??

I guess Imagestation must be down right now, cause all I see are red x's.

Never mind my last post. I can see the pictures now.

They're finally cracking down on it.

I'd find a new server to host your photos at, as they may deactivate your account.

I have been posting pictures here for years and for the past two weeks or so haven't been able to have a picture show up. All I get are the links which, of course, one can still click on but the pictures themselves just won't come up. I had been wondering if it was only me.

I can't post and my sig pics only show up, one or two, occasionally!:( Do you think Imagestation is going the way of Photopoint and Webshots?:(

I don't use them but I haven't been able to log on to see anyones albums for about 3 weeks. I even asked them to resend my info (incase i was being dumb) still can't get in. I just add them as attachments.

I tried to post one of Sipoweitz at Thursdays. It didnt work and it was from Imagestaion.

I posted one of him that I had here already and it worked.

Did you know they now have a slide show feature?

I've noticed they don't allow posting on certain sites as well. Livejournal being one of them. The only other site I like (maybe even a bit more than imagestation) is photobucket.

I like Imagestation but I get hammered with ads from EBay and some other places. Photo Bucket has not done that to me yet.

I have noticed that Imagestation pictures are not working on the other sites I'm on. I don't post many pictures anyway.

I've recently burned all my pictures onto CD's that I had on Imagestation. I just don't trust them. What happens if someday they decide they don't like me linking here and deactivate or suspend my account? I want to be able to access all my stored photos, so from now on, they'll be burned onto CDs first, then uploaded to Imagestation! :)

You know, I think that is what I am going to do today Micki. I am really getting uneasy about this. So I think I will play it safe and take your advice, just in case. ;)

By the way, I just had TONS of posts dissapear........... I was at 4,900 the other day and now am just barely at 4,880 again. :p

I would highly recommend never uploading your pictures anywhere without first having them on a local disk. Even better would be what Micki is doing and burn then to CD.

It is never a good idea to trust your photos to these places.

Always have a backup.:)

Luckies, I had about 10 to disappear too! Infact I have had about 5 to 10 a week to disappear. (If I post very many)

The line for the picture only is hiddem in the new line! Copy one you posted already and compare it with the new one and you can see! You delete all the stuff you don't need and it works as usual !

Barbara is right, you just delete the first part, and everything after jpg

I posted a picture earlier today and did that, it came up just fine. :) Compare with a previous one! ;)

I managed to trick them today too :)

You guys still may not want to trick them because i'm sure you don't want your account deactivated.

Why would I care if the account is de-activated? All of my pictures stored online are also on disc... so no biggie (shrugs shoulders) Why do they have such a problem with us cross-posting? Its not as if their prices for prints are all that great (I can go to Walmart and get my photos in an hour for the same price.) I think I'll start using another site to host the photos though.

But I DID try to remove the excess garbage and still wasn't able to post pictures.

Gosh am I cranky today!;)

Kfamr
02-21-2004, 04:53 PM
Gee, sorry.
I surely cared.

Because cross-posting creates bandwith, which costs to have. Us cross posting costs them.

Or atleast I believe that's why.

Oh sorry! I didn't mean to offend you! I had no idea it would cost THEM. Still can't see how, but I'm completely computer illiterate. I just don't see what the big deal is. You'd think they'd WANT the free advertising sites like this offer them... look at how many hundreds (thousands?) of posters went to imagestation and use it because of forums like here.

As for me not caring about losing my pictures, its a lesson I learned long ago in art school... never ever have your photos or artwork located on one source, always have at least one backup (I happen to have three including imagestation - 4 if you count hard copies on paper.) This unfortunately is a lesson learned the hard way... so those of you that DO have your images stored on a site without backup at home, consider making it.

And PS: I am terribly cranky and admit it!:D

Luckies,

I'm glad you began this thread because I hadn't posted pics
in quite a while and was concerned. I did try earlier today and
had trouble posting from Imagestation, but it worked now. That
is very strange, but I'm glad it stlll works at all. :)

I am glad I have all my pics burnt to disk!
