Cat survives high speed crash under the bonnet

A cat which crawled near a car's engine to keep warm during recent snowfalls survived a 40 mile drive and a high-speed crash.

The driver only found the frightened cat when he heard a hissing noise and opened the bonnet to check the car's radiator had not been damaged.

The driver had hit the back of another car after skidding on ice on the busy A1 motorway in Austria.

The Austrian breakdown service could not get the cat out and police were called to give the vehicle an escort to a local garage where part of the engine was removed so the cat could be freed.

The stowaway is believed to have slipped into the car when it was parked on a construction site in the Austrian capital Vienna.

The pet's owners have since been located and reunited with their cat which had been left out in the cold while they went away over the weekend.

It must be true because I read it around here too. I would have posted it but I didn't want to do that much translation!

What an incredible story.
