PLEASE CROSS POST -- Daniel Culligan's prelim.
trial (to see if they have enough evidence to take him
to court) is March 3rd!!!!!
>
> Little Chica probably never knew what happened.
All she knew was pain as they extinguished the flames
which engulfed her body with a fire extinguisher and
rushed her to an emergency animal hospital on December
14th, 2003. The suffering tabby cat was later
euthanized due to burns over 90% of her body.. burns
that occured when Daniel Culligan thoughtlessly set
her on fire for 'frustrating' him. Neighbors helped
the cat seek medical help.
>
> Now your help is desperately needed to help
Chica's abuser face the consequences of his horrible
crime.
>
> A promise was made to Chica that her death would
not go unnoticed.. please help keep that promise.

> Daniel Culligan expressed no remorse for his
actions, stating "What's the big deal? Everyone has
hurt cats or squirrels." (Bucks County Courier Times:
Sunday, 2/1/04)
>
> Animal abuse is often linked to child abuse or
other violent crimes.
>
> Daniel Culligan should face the maximum penalty
allowed by law for his felony charge of arson and
misdemeanor of animal cruelty.
>
> Daniel Culligan should be forced to relinquish
his current cat and should be denied ownership of pets
in the future.
>
> Daniel Culligan's case should serve as an

will no longer be accepted or tolerated in our
society!

> We, the undersigned, acknowledge that Daniel
Culligan of Bucks County, PA is facing a felony charge
of arson and a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty
for setting his living female tabby cat "Chica" on
fire and tossing her from a balcony, resulting in a
painful and horrific death. We agree that Daniel
Culligan should be prosecuted and punished to the
fullest extent allowed by law and should never again
be allowed to possess an animal. His current cat
should be removed from his possession and placed in
another home for its protection.

Hopefully this person will get a very strict punishment. Judges tend to be a little lenient on these types of cases. Maybe PETA will get behind this case and make sure our voices are heard. You can forward the case to them by e-mail. My daughter and I have been members for quite a while and feel it is a very positive experience not just as cat lovers, but as lovers of all animals.

What the H*** is wrong with people these days????????
This poor excuse for a human being says his grandaughter will be heartbroken if the other kitten is taken away and he promises nothing will happen with this one. YEAH RIGHT. Until it scratches his grandaughter or bites her.
I hope this "B" gets what he deserves.

*sighs, shakes head* I just cannot read another story about animal abuse.

I signed the petition. As far as his a$$hole not being able to have pets, I hope the judge throws the book at him. He had NO right to torture that precious baby simply because he had a bad day!!! His granddaughter will be sad if his present cat will be taken away??? Too friggin bad. He should've thought about that BEFORE he set Little Chica on fire!!

May he rot in hell!!

There are no words stong enough to express the horror of what he did. People like to think of animals as lesser beings but I believe that most all of your serial and physco killers started with animals. I think that if people don't care enough about the animal they should at least realize that there is something inside this man that they should be very very afraid of!
I wonder what will be said to him on judement day? OOP's I'm having a bad day so I think I will send you to hell for eternity!!

The troble is that Cats are considered to be expendable , and that there are often no conseqences for cruelty. I hope that someone , some day makes that punk pay , and pay dearly. Maybe when he rots in hell , for Eternity.

I was horrified when I read the article in my local newspaper!

Apparently, the judge reversed her decision simply on the plea from the child's grandfather that the child would be heartbroken if not allowed to have another kitten/cat.

Quite frankly, I think DYFS should be intervening and maybe the child/children ought to be removed from this monster's home.

The all-too-familiar pattern is: First animal abuse, and then human abuse. Actually, if the child was witness to the cat being set afire and tossed over the balcony, wouldn't that constitute child abuse???

Be that as it may, my outrage is focused on people who mistreat cats, and I don't think hell is punishment enough for them, especially this guy.

My newspaper published the road and the name of the apartment complex where this happened . . . I wonder if he has had a decent night's sleep since??!! Let's hope not!!!!

There is no words strong enough that I can use to describe this A**.

Whatever they do to him in court will not be enough. I agree that the kids should be removed from the house. It usually starts with animal abuse.

I hope the judge comes to her senses and bans him from every coming near anymore animals.
