This pic from today's San Francisco Chronicle reminded me of my two - the huge golden Mr. Mishi Maine Coon and my itsy-bitsy Mitzi calico-cutie. I guess they aren't such an odd couple after all! :D

Sorry, but this photo really bothers me! It depicts a (yes gorgeous) tom cat, and a female cat obviously in the process of mating. It's a sad commentary on what's actually going on in the streets every day. Cats breeding out of control. It appears like a friendly gesture, but when the camera wasn't snapping, the female was getting impregnated. Where will the kittens be born, and how many will survive? Chances are not good for any kitten born on the streets. 50% die within the first month, and the usual life span of a street cat is a measly 3 years. For two beautiful cats, that's a sad picture.

??? I've seen my Cassy (neutered male) and Livvy (spayed female) touch like that. It may be one step in a mating ritual, but it's also a step in general, non-sexual play, too. I don't see the photo as sexual.

I've seen altered cats go well beyond this stage. Even though cats are thought of as asocial, they often become buddies.

awwww...a VERY sweet picture! and SO much like Mishi and Mitzi - only with Mitzi's facial markings in reverse:D
By the way - have not seen much of Mishi lately - how's he doing?? Does he have the winter mane?? *SMOOCH* and one for little (plush) Mitzi , too *SMOOCH*

Yes, you raise a good point but I guess I am just looking at the cute picture - but you are absolutely right in your concern about overpopulation, etc. I doubt you would find any argument about that here. BTW - I have been meaning to tell you - I LOVE your NAME:D :D :D QUEEN SCOOPALOT!! I wish I had thought of it first. :D

It took hardly any time at all to come up with my screen name. Scooping's what I do all too frequently. I sure wish those two gorgeous cats were in my area instead of CA. I'd sure love to have that stunning longhaired guy. The tortie's adorable too.

I know, I know --- I've just been busy with work and some of my outside commitments and haven't uploaded the few new pics I've taken up onto Imagestation. Our Trailer Trash Bingo event last weekend was a HUGE success, but took up a LOT of my time and now I'm helping an attorney friend with some of her work when I'm not working at my REAL job for the other attorneys.

I'm kinda bummed that Mishi DOESN'T have the beautiful winter mane that many of you are posting pics of your cats with. He's still my beautiful huge hunka-hunka orangie love and Mitzi has become a lovey velcro kitty. Some mornings it's hard to leave the house with two cats fluffing me with their kitty love. I will try to take and post some more pics of my two, although I doubt if I can catch them in a pose like the one I posted.

Is she a calico (mostly white) or a tortie (mostly black)? Hallie is a tortie and I think she is beautiful--although NAWTEEEE at times. Hope to post a picture soon to see if everyone else agrees!

Love the picture!

Actually, a lot of people have that combination. I did, before we added six more. My vet does and many of our customers have an orangie and a tortie girl. Kind of neat huh?? I think its a nice pair. :)

That's a really cute picture, by the way. :D

She's a little of both - She has white "cotton ball" paws, a white tummy and bib, that pretty black and gold "domino" on her face, nose and forehead; a gold pawprint on her nose and her topside and tail are tortoiseshell. I guess she's a long-hair (or heavy-furred :D) calico-tortie or a tortico? :D Whatever she is, she's very fluffy and round and cute and I love her to bits! :)
