Andrew and I made a day trip to the town of Trier today. Trier is a Roman city in Germany and one of the oldest in the country. We left at 9 AM and got back home at 6PM. It was an hour and a half drive each way. The weather was nice. It didn't rain until we got ready to leave. We enjoyed a day of sightseeing and a nice lunch overlooking the MarktPlatz.

I can see from you and Esster that I am going to have to plan to get out of the USA! These places are beautiful. Such history is now fascinating to me. In school ages ago, I hated history and almost failed it. Thanks for sharing these.

Amber Lee, we will be in Germany for 3 years. Drake is doing fine. We didn't take him with us yesterday because most of the places were historic and wouldn't allow dogs. I didn't want him in the car all day.

dukedogsmom, Europe is beautiful. I have travelled around Europe before with my family but this time it is more special since I have Andrew and Drake with me. Wiesbaden, the town I live in is very historic and old.

Andrew has a 4 day weekend for Presidents Day and we have reservations to spend 2 nights in Garmisch (Winter Olympic site) to ski and snowboard. And then on our way back home, we have made reservations to spend the day and night in Munich and sightsee. Can't hardley wait. And then we are off to Prag at the end of February.

Hey Souraya, if you come to Munich I would be glad to take you somewhere for dinner!

I know Trier very well because my parents live about 45 min away. I have seen the Porta Nigra (which has been built about 300 years a.C.) since I was a child;)

The last time I went to Trier was on a class trip in elementary school.
If I remember correct Trier is the American sister city of Fort Worth, TX, where I live now.
Souraya, you were pretty close to my home town.
Here is a link to some pictures, click on Fotos:

Glad you guys liked the pictures. We had so much fun.
We are planning a day trip to Hiedelburg this Saturday and Drake will be coming with us.

Anna and Tonya, My hair has been red since we came to Germany. I finally found a stylist that got the color exactly how I want it. My mom is a natuaral red head (like really carrot red). So, I have some red natural tones too. Just decided to play them up a notch or two!

When I was in Europe a few years back with my son we spent most of the sight seeing in old historic cathedrals and buildings (which was a bit strange as neither of us are particularly religious) but the history reaches out and grabs you. See all you can now with your gorgeous hubby while times are still peaceful. If you get to Koln Germany you MUST see the cathedral by the train station. It took my breath away. Wouldn't it be great if you could meet up with Barbara in Munich!! Give Drake a wiffle behind the ear from me and some chin scritches too.

Laurie, Barbara and I are meeting up for dinner in Munich when Andrew and I are there next Sunday! I am looking forward to it. Draker will be with us too. Perhaps we will take him along to dinner.

We went to Koln when we first got here, but didn't do any sightseeing. We were there for the day seeing some relatives.

I am going to Gothenburg City, Sweden on February 17th. My uncle lives there and I haven't seen him and his family for 6 years! I will be there for about 5 days and then will be coming home. Andrew and Drake will stay in Wiesbaden. Andrew has work and the airline I am flying doesn't transport animals.
