Sadly, I learned most of the stuff I know about horses from a horse game :o Anyway, I don't really have links, but I'm sure you can find lots of info if you go to http://google.com and search for horse care or something :)

we are in training to be horsey owners. in learning about them, we have come across TONS of info. it's hard to sort through it all for the important stuff, ect...

we're looking for info about general care, ect..

alot of info i find is contradictory. it's very frustrating. we just want to do it right! :O)

we can afford one and have no problem sparing no expense.

i've read on one site that if they colic, to call a vet asap.. soemone i know told me to just walk him around for a few hours till it passes.
you're supposed to have teeth floated and hooves filed. someone else i know never hardly has that done. although i will, cause i know you're supposed to when it's needed.

i read somewhere else that they need 1.5 acres per animal. i know people who have much smaller areas.

ahhhhh!:(

How right you are:

If you ask 100 people about Horses...You Will get 100 Different Answers....
A very old Virginian Horseman taught me a Very Valuable Lesson...
We are ALL made up of the same things...Flesh,Blood,Bone,Water...
If you Don't or Do it to Your Body,Then You Don't/Do it to a Horse...
It is all common sense
Do you file/cut your nails every 6 to 8 weeks???? You bet you do...
Nails/Hooves are made of Calcium...Connected to the body whose heart beats based on exercise(Increasing blood flow)...this stimulates Growth...so their Hooves need to betrimmed Every 6 to 8 weeks based on exercise...You will see the Growth...
How often do you get Your Teeth Cleaned???? 2x per year...answers the Floating question....Same principle, the more they use them, the type of food and pasture they are on determines the amount of filing they need....

No One Human Being can give you a Panacea for Colic....yes,It is Inflammation/Twisting of the Stomach/Intestine....Ever had indigestion????? You are a Human...You can Burp/Vomit....Look at their Skeleton...they cannot.....so the inflammation Must be handled differently....Plus they cannot communicate....so when they lay down and roll from a Gas bubble...they cause more damage...because you can't stand there and say...lay still and quiet, and it will go away with one good belch!!!!
Plus There are SO MANY types of colic...You cannot remedy them ALL by walking.....that is good for a gas bubble...but do you/the person Telling you to do this/ know how to tell if it gas?????
Find the Silent Pocket in their stomache.....

Many Variables...Go to Borders.com or amazon.com....look for ANY books by Suan B. Harris...She has written a few Great Books on care and feeding....
But I still say...Nothing beats Common Sense....Think Like a Horse...And You Will Care for a Horse!!!

Always here to help you ....
from your sig....it looks like you are in the Middle of Horse Country!!!!!!!!
Have Fun!!!!
