ok Tikeya is pure bred and the vet even said so, and she looks just like all the dogs in AKC and CKC registered siberian huskies.

Wouldent that be enough to register Tikeya?

I really want to register her.

how do people register their dogs?
Does the breeder do it?
is there any reputable breeders here that could let me in on how it is done?

Tikeyas mom was a white siberian husky and her dad was a wolly siberian husky.

meh...

maybe some links or info on registration might help me out a bit.

Thanks.

Jynnelle and Tikeya. :)

Nope, "looking" like a purebred wouldn't cut it; at least I don't think so.

I registered mine with AKC Registration Papers the breeders gave to us, when we first went to go pick them up.

Do you have a "family tree" of the dogs in Tikeya's lines? I think that could do it, if you have them. It would show she's purebred. Or, do you know if her sire and dam were registered?

Try going to www.akc.org. Email them and ask. :)

Shelteez2 helped me out with this. Here's a page from the CKC site,
http://www.ckc.ca/info/faq/FAQ-Registration-refresh.asp
And here's one about the fees, http://www.ckc.ca/member/fees/reg_fees-refresh.asp

I think it'd be $64 if you can register her but the breeder shouldn't have sold you Tikeya as a purebred without registering her cause it's illegal. We had this problem with Kai..I need to call his breeder and work it out until he decides to pay.

Is there any particular reason you want her registered now? I mean you really don't need her to be if you aren't planning on doing any sort of performance events with her, such as obedience.

The breeders did something illegal. When selling a purebred dog in Canada it is the law for the pup they are selling to be registered.

I think your best bet at this stage in life would be to get Tikeya a
Performance Event Number (PEN). This is equivalent to the AKC's ILP number.

Here is a description of the PEN from the CKC's site.
http://www.ckc.ca/info/faq/FAQ-Registration-refresh.asp

A PEN number allows an unregisterable dog of a CKC recognized breed to participate in competitive events that are appropriate for the breed. To apply for a PEN, you must complete a CKC Performance Event Number Application and submit the form along with the following requirements:
1. Two recent and clear photographs of the dog in standing position, one full frontal view and one full profile. The photographs are to be signed and dated by a veterinarian confirming type of breed and size of dog. (i.e., 20" Golden Retriever.)
2. A veterinary certificate confirming that the dog has been spayed or neutered.
3. A statement as to why the dog cannot be properly registered with the CKC.
4. The dog must be identified with a CKC approved microchip.
If the dog is co-owned, all co-owners must sign the application.
5. The appropriate fee, as noted in the CKC Fee Schedule. (http://www.ckc.ca/member/fees/default-refresh.asp)

The fee is $50.

Good luck with whatever you decide :)
