What breed is he?

Hello all!
I've asked this at a few other forums, but no one has really given me much help:( .I'm hoping you guys will have some more insight. Dante is my wonderful mix puppy (he'll be 1 yr in Feb.). When we got him we were told he was a Jack Russell x Spaniel cross:rolleyes: . What do you think he is??

How big is he? I see Lab in his coloring, don't see Spaniel in him much, maybe the JRT part is right ... Does he have webbed feet?

No, he doesn't have webbed feet. He's about 44lbs, stands 22" at the shoulder.

If he's that big, he probably isn't a JRT. He looks like a lab mix. He's adorable. Just tell people he's a registered Heinz 57 and he's your favorite breed.

I definitely see lab in him, especially the set of his ears. Other than that I don't know. At 44 pounds probably a mid-sized breed in him along with lab somewhere :)

Thanks all. The more he grows, the more I see lab in him. I just realised that none of the pics I included show his tail. He has a curled tail, right up onto his back. Would that give any of you clues as to what else could be in him?

Yup, I was also told he would never out grow the harness we bought with him ( the one in the first shot) and wouldn't pass 30lbs:rolleyes: :rolleyes:

I don't know - I think his eyes sort of look like spaniels' eyes, but I'm no expert.

He is most likely a lab mix.

Maybe shar-pei? Shiba inu?

I don't see any spaniel, but I think it's possible he has some sort of terrier in him...

He is a beautiful Heinz 57! He's definitely favoring the Lab genes, but you never can tell what all the rest may be! For all we know that could be a Beagle sitting there :p ;) I never did find out what my mutt was, either, and she is quite a lovely mix if I do say so myself. :) Happy early birthday, Dante!

I vote lab-sharpei. He resembles my RB dog Rosco a bit in some of the pics. Rosco was sharpei-pit.

I can definitely see the possiblity of shar-pei in him, looking back over the pics.

When I looked a second time, I noticed the curly-Q tail that could come from shar-pei

Whatever he is, he's a sweetheart. I am always guessing at the breeds in mutts too. I still don't know what else is in Tasha as the shelter said neither of her parents were purebred but that she is supposed to have shepherd and some greyhound in there.. They also had springer spaniel listed but unless it goes way back, I don't see that in her at all. Her temperment is much more a combo of greyhound/shepherd traits, but she also has to have some mid-sized breed in her as well since she's 45 pounds, though a lean leggy thing for sure. Perhaps she even has some shar-pei in her somewhere. She does resemble this pretty boy a bit. :)

I THINK I FOUND IT HE LOOKS LIKE HE HAS SOME BASENJI IN HIM WITH THE TAIL AND WRINKLES THEY CAN BE TAN OR RED AND WHITE OR BLACK THEIR MALE IDEAL WIEGHT IS 35 TO45 POUNDS

I think he'd weigh more than 44 pounds if he was :p Basenji is possible though a rarer breed I think.. at least don't see a lot of basenjis running around here. I still think it's more likely to be shar-pei and lab, but again you never can tell. He may have several breeds in him! :)

I see *some* similarities, especially in the head with my dog Riely...she's lab and Border Terrier..

here is a picture of her...she has kinda wiry hair because of the border terrier, but she's about 45 pounds and about that height...we know she's border terrier because of the hairs around her muzzle and the eye shape, with the wiry type hair...

so maybe it's some kind of terrier, though...?

The fact of the matter is that most mixed breed dogs probably have 5 or 6 different breeds in them. It is kind of hard to determine what he is, but I definitely see lab in him. I think All American Mutt is the actual breed.
