Dog beds

Does your dog have it's own "doggy bed?" Timber has one, but I've been looking for a place that I can buy a nice one for cheaper for the cata pup that I'm getting in a few years.

Beds are so expensive these days! A small dog can get a bed for $30, and my dog will be large!

I've been thinking about just making a bed myself. I made a pillow a few years ago, and it wasn't hard at all. Has anyone made their own dog bed? Maybe I can even make a nice wooden basket. I'm making everything as it is right now. Right now I'm building a rat cage, then I'll make a dog sled, next year I'm making a dog house and a scratching post. LOL. :)

At least one of my dogs fits into every category you listed....some have beds, some use blankets, one prefers the tile floor, I made a couple and some insist that my bed is their bed! :)

Three dogs and on husband in the bed with me. :eek: We've decided that we're at our limit simply because there's no more room left in the bed :p
We do have a dog bed in the living room that Aneko sleeps in during the day sometimes.

Aww, Leather slept with me when I lived at my dad's house and I had a bed. Now she's at my stepmom's, and can't fit with me on her couch! :(

I'm going to sleep with my catahoula when he's fully trained, but when it's a small puppy he will stay in my room in his crate, and when older he will stay on his own bed on the floor. Once he is comfortable with me being boss (catas are a dominant breed and will test you), he can sleep beside me in my bed. I love having a big warm dog to cuddle up with. Leather would sleep with me until I fell asleep and then move onto the floor ever so quietly. Everything else wakes me up instantly, but that never did. :)

Moose has always and will always sleep with me in my bed. :p Josh hates it...lol.

We have a pillow that my mom made for Kai (before Kae came to live with us). It's a cute cow printed case and has a velvety feel to it. My mom said she spent about $25 dollars on it. It was pretty cheap compared to Petcetera. They're charging 20 dollars for a bed that is way too small for my boys (and they aren't that big!).

The boys don't really use the pillow though. Kai hates my bed so he goes on the floor. He lays down on the pillow now and then. Although for some reason, he prefers sleeping on his back by the door. Kaedyn sleeps on my bed when I fall off to sleep but moves sometime during the night.

Both of mine have dog beds, and dog houses. But, they prefer to sleep in the house. My parents don't like that very much. :o

Ruby sleeps anywhere she pleases! She has her own doggy bed the she sleeps on a lot during the day. At night she always sleeps in a 'human' bed. She also sleeps on blankets, sofas, chairs, the floor... anywhere :rolleyes:

We used to use blankets, but my mom decided they needed "real" beds for Christmas this year. We bought the appropriately sized ones and I put them in the dogs' crates. (Star sleeps wherever she wants, but Wilbur sleeps in his crate until he's housebroken) Wilbur promptly dragged his out of the crate, out it in front of the fireplace, and fell asleep! What a clown! :)

I'm going to buy him another one when I get paid again so we don't have to keep moving this one around. *Chuckles*

For their nighttime bed, I got pieces of carpet and then over that, a couple fleece blankets from K-mart that they can bunch up however they want. They love making their own "nest."

During the day, my office has a hardwood floor so I have various old bedding thrown around for them to lay on. An old comforter, old bedpad, etc.

In the living room or den Tasha becomes a couch potato and Tommy likes to lay on my feet :P

Ozzy has an actual dog bed for when he's in my room, and he uses my brother's old comforter.
Darlin uses her crate when she sleeps during the day, but she sleeps with my parents at night. :p

But he ripped one end of it apart. He still uses it though and he loves it. :) I don't think it was too expensive.

That's great that you plan on making the bed. I don't have the patience for that kind of stuff and when we had to sew Boxer shorts in Home Ec. I made them too tight and too short and one leg was crooked. Lol :p

in the basment in one corner is a bed mad up of a sleeping bag, and blanket, and some pillows, and on my room the whole food of my bed is coverd with old blankets and pillows for the dogs, these are rarly used though the dogs sleep on my bed with me :p

Pepper sleeps on the bed.
Rocky sleeps in his crate by my bed, or on the rug
in front of the bed.
SHeba loved her crate, but because of her arthritis I
gave it to a rescue and she sleeps on the rug by the bed
now.

Duke uses his dog bed during the day and sleeps with me at night. His dog bed is in the living room.

Abbey Riley and Jada use actual dog beds--all three of them are side by side on the floor, so they can curl up as they wish.
Kito has moved back into the human bed--no problem with me!!!!!

Previously, we had tried 2 different types of beds, both of which were torn up badly.

The ones we have now, we purchased at Target, for around $30, and they don't have as much as a tear anywhere in them. They clean up very nicely too, in the wash, or sometimes I just vaccuum them and freshen them up a little. I don't know how big a catahoula gets, but Jada fits comfortably on these, and she's around 80 pounds now.

Disney had two dog beds and a couple of blankets on furniture that she sleeps on or in. She loves her beds and gets upset when I'm washing either of them (like right now - she just had a bath and I'm washing one of her beds).

I've got four beds for the cats too. I'm kind of a pet bed junkie.

I get the fabrick when it is on sale. This red paw print fleese was $14. a yd on sale for 1/2 and the zippers about $4 or $5 each. I use foam rubber bed pads, 3 layers each and make a pillow case of any kind of fabric I have and sew the end closed. That stays on always and then a cover with a zipper, so I can wash it. I keep making new covers and leave the old ones on too. These 3 beds were under $50.00 The blue dog prints for the bedroom was a lot less, $3. a yd. The zippers cost more than the fabric.

Both are in bed with me till Rick comes to bed.
Then Buddy goes down onto the dog bed, and Sierra goes to the pile of blankets on the floor. Then once Rick and I fall asleep, Sierra jumps back up into bed with us. I am going to make two new beds for them! My sister made one for her pup and it sounds real easy!!

My dogs sleep in my bed with me, but I do have a nice doggie bed by my computer that they lounge in during the day when I'm on the computer.

This might be sad, but I could have checked almost all of them :o Josie sleeps with me sometimes. Or the other bed I have in my room. They have couches downstairs (theirs basically -_-) and 2 dog beds..And some blankets upstairs...lol :x :D

Nebo has a nice big square dog bed. He loves that bed, and always takes any chew toys or rawhide there to eat. He also has another big soft bed in my room, as well as a blanket made for dogs. He sleeps on my bed at night. :)

I bought both of the beds and the blanket at Costco. They have some nice high quality products at a reasonable price.

I LOVE Costco, but my mom won't go there for some reason. Her boyfriend has a Costco card and says she can use it...I'll have to force her lol. :o

Yeah, this is his favorite bed...I'm not positive, but I don't remember it costing more than $20.

The cover can be removed and washed. The blanket is made of the same material/pattern, I believe it was around $13. I love Costco. :)

in the summer she will sleep in this HUGE saramic shell we have at the pond outback :p. she loves that thing!!

Oscar sleeps with anyone he wants too, he is like the lil prince. he will usually sleep with me and tikeya, or with my mom and dad. *on the bed*. ;)

PS. baby also somtimes sleeps with my lil brother, Cole. in his one person bed lmao. it is pritty funny :D..

Binx has a bed in my room, that he always sleeps in at night time, and will go back to if we get up early.

Then, he has a comforter on the floor of the living room that sometimes he uses, sometimes not. It is close to his toy basket, so, if he pulls out a toy, he crawls on the comforter.

Then, I have made it so he can sleep on the couch...a place that was just too dern hard to keep him off of. With his mouth, I **can't** have him just up there without protection. He leaks too much! So, I have a fleece blanket lined with a shower curtain (very easy to make, as it is just a straight stitch on all four sides, then, cut off the excess shower liner). So, he can lay up there all he wants, I just wash it, and hang it dry.

The summer time? On the tiled floor in the bathroom, nearly all the time he is indoors. Kinda tight in there, too.

My dogs have beds specially made for dogs. They have ones made by my grandma. They have blankets. They have the floor. And they have my bed.
