Hey, who are you calling Old?????:) :)

It's snowing like crazy up here today so I decided to work from home. I've got about 8 inches of snow on the deck and it's not stopping anytime soon.

Max is asleep on the couch, Speckles is asleep in front of the fire and I'm catching up on my soaps in my PJ's.

It's been a year since I first logged on the Pet Talk and back then I never knew what an addiction it could become, and Thursday's has not helped the situation any. I've loved getting to know all of you through cyberspace and can hardly wait until the July BBQ!! I wish you all peace and good health for the coming year.

That being said, serve 'em up bartender. I'm not driving anywhere until Friday........:) :) :) I'll take a DOTD (double please) and I think I'll try some catnip tea for the little ones. Maybe it will put back some of the spark they've lost over the years.

Happy new year to you all. I'll have a Hot buttered rum please it's cold here and this is the day 2 years ago that the neighbors 9 year old grandson died of a brain anrouism. The whole family gathers here (next door) as the mom falls apart . I go over and fix meals. need to be sured up for this years round( they had him cremated and bring his ashes every where they go even sitting a place at the table for him. Don't get me wrong but isn't that a little over the edge?
Sorry to be a downer it is getting hard for me to do this every year. needed to vent a little I guess.
But on a happier note my daughter probly has he temp job as a permant one as of the 8th. Yeah!!!!!
Thanks to all on this board who have helped each of us this yers, somer times you don't know how you have helped, just being here helps.
Thursdays are the best for it, Thank you Richard for being here and starting this maddness.
Whoa I got a little intense sorry . Lets celebrate!!!!!!!!

Corinna, goodness - let me be the first to buy you a drink and give you a much deserved hug this New Year's.

My heart goes out to your neighbors......they have an angel in heaven watching out for them - it might be time for them to let him do his job. But every family grieves in a different way..........who am I to judge?

Come on in - sit down for a bit - get your wits about you before you go off into the cold once again.

Step Six: Wipe up spilled drink

Step Nine: Take empty glass up to bar and get another one
Step Ten: Stagger back to chair
Step Eleven: Fall off chair
Step Twelve: Wake up in the Lost and Found.

Now that's my kind of 12-step program. :D :D

Corinna: sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. What a great neighbour you are to pitch in like that. Good on you.

Zippy: how come you are falling asleep??? Working too hard??

Tray: Order anything you like and Richard will put it on my tab. Happy Birthday!

Speaking of which, enclosed is a cheque for $13,765.43 that will pay off my tab for the year. Gee, did I really buy that many rounds??

That BB was delish, but I wouldn't mind something hot right now also. We actually had a couple of inches of snow; it was so pretty, but now its melting. There might be more on the way though.

My boy Joxer hasn't seen hardly any snow in his life but he loved it last night. First he just sat around, not sure what to do. Then he attacked it. Little snowballs would be created in front of him as he pounced on the snow. He rolled and played in it - it was so cute.

For tonight, we're just having a couple of friends over. We'll torch our Christmas tree at midnight and light off some fireworks. Then tomorrow we do the teardown of the all the Christmas decorations.

Happy New Year to everyone! I hope the next year is a good one!

Give me a DoD, too. I'm stuck here at work. They don't want to close early since we all have too much to do. Oh well, thought I'd stop by the cyberbar and say hello. Not like we're doing anything tonight. We refer to it as Amateur's Night. I'll stay home with the man and the puppies! That's the place to be. We might even stay awake until midnight - not!

If I make it to the Lost & Found, it's generally because I want to be lost and not found. Is that backwards or what?

RICHARD
12-31-2003, 03:31 PM
Catland,

Hi Catland: You're taking down the decorations tomorrow?? Wow, I leave mine up until the end of January. I know, I'm weird. Did you take any pics of Joxer in the snow??

Richard: Monopoly, that's a great idea. With all the snow outside how about I set up a game?? Does anyone have Catopoly????

Another DDOTD please......and thank you.

Slick - yes we did get a pic of Joxer in the snow, but with how slow I am at getting pics posted you might not see it until June.

and yes, there's nothing quite like torching the old Christmas tree in the back yard to celebrate the coming of the new year.

Tips and tricks.

1. Don't tie M-80's to the branches - you never know when they will go off and they tend to put out the fire.

2. Make your tree go up in flames right at midnight - that's when the rest of the neighbors are setting off their fireworks and no one will notice.

3. Only do this in a place like here in the Northwest where everything is wet and you are in no danger of starting something else on fire. and by all means, do this OUTSIDE - never put your tree in the fireplace unless you want to watch your house burn down in the process.

Have a great, safe, happy new year's everyone!

I was just looking at the TV Guide for tonight and I see that from 7 to 11 you can see Inside the Playboy Mansion and then the Playboy's 50th Anniversary Special.

Makes me remember when I was about 11 yrs old my 13-yr old brother found some Playboy books underneath Mom and Dad's bed. They say you should really find out from your parents...well, I guess we were not too far off the mark. :D :D

Don't know if it's a repeat or not, but happy anniversary HH. Rock on dude!!!

Oh yea, Drive-In Movies. What a trip!!!! I was part of the era that you really did stick a couple of people in the trunk and only pay for the driver :D :D :D

Actually the last of our drive-in's finally gave way to a mall just last year I think. The Hillcrest Drive-In was THE place to go if you were anybody, and talk about cheap. Later on they started charging by the car instead of per person. $6 would get you in for a triple bill that ended at 2am.

Sleep tight DDM. Hi amoore. Glad you could make it. Again I ask, where is your husband??? He hasn't been on for a while.

Tray: I've just popped open another bottle of bubbly. Can you please help me by passing it around?? I've got to go clean up in the back. I'm hearing noises from the L&F again. Why does this always happen when I'm behind the bar????

trayi52

Nooo I don't want anything that still has its head or its feet, yuk!

Time for a Joke!!

It's Time For All The New Year's Eve Parties...
and a good time to remind everyone of
The Five Stages Of Drunkenness

Stage 1 - SMART- This is when you suddenly become an expert on
every subject in the known Universe. You know you know everything
and want to pass on your knowledge to anyone who will listen. At this
stage you are always RIGHT. And of course the person you are
talking to is very WRONG. This makes for an interesting
argument when both parties are SMART.

Stage 2 - GOOD LOOKING- This is when you realize that you are the
BEST LOOKING person in the entire bar and that people fancy you.
You can go up to a perfect stranger knowing they fancy you and
really want to talk to you. Bear in mind that you are still SMART,
so you can talk to this person about any subject under the sun.

Stage 3 - RICH- This is when you suddenly become the richest
person in the world. You can buy drinks for the entire bar
because you have an armoured truck full of money parked
behind the bar. You can also make bets at this stage, because
of course, you are still SMART, so naturally you win all your
bets. It doesn't matter how much you bet 'cos you are RICH.
You will also buy drinks for everyone that you fancy, because
now you are the BEST LOOKING person in the world.

Stage 4 - BULLET PROOF- You are now ready to pick fights with
anyone and everyone especially those with whom you have been betting
or arguing. This is because nothing can hurt you. At this point you can
also go up to the partners of the people who you fancy and challenge
to a battle of wits or money. You have no fear of losing this battle
because you are SMART, you are RICH and hell, you're
BETTER LOOKING than they are anyway!

Stage 5 - INVISIBLE- This is the Final Stage of Drunkenness. At
this point you can do anything because NO ONE CAN SEE YOU.
You dance on a table to impress the people who you fancy because the
rest of the people in the room cannot see you. You are also invisible to
the person who wants to fight you. You can walk through the street
singing at the top of your lungs because no one can see or hear you
and because you're still SMART you know all the words.

okay, okay, but MAN you gotta admit, these are som GREAT lyrics:

Peel me a grape, crush me some ice
skin me a peach, save the fuzz for my pillow
talk to me nice, talk to me nice,
you gotta wine me and dine me
don't try to fool me, bejewel me
either amuse me or lose me
I'm getting hungry, peel me a grape
pop me a cork, french me a fry
crack me a nut, bring a bowl fulla of bon-bons
chill me some wine, keep standing by
just entertain me, champagne me
show me you love me, kid glove me
best way to cheer me, cashmere me
I'm getting hungry, peel me a grape
here's how to be an agreeable chap
love me and leave me in lyxury's lap
hop when I holler skip when I snap
when I say, "do it" jump to it
send out for scoch, call me a cab
cut me a rose make my tea with the petals
just hang around, pick up the tab
never out think me, just mink me
polar bear rug me, don't bug me
new Thunderbird me, you heard me
I'm getting hungry, peel me a grape

look at all of you!

I decided to stop in......actually I am 30, 00 feet over the pacific
headed to the Bikini Atoll for NY's lunch.....

lol.....

It's 10:30 and bed is looking good!

Rule #12 for drummers:

When bed looks better than 'Party All Night' you need to wake up later in the day.

But I do have to say that one thing that tickles me to death is seeing you guys keeping the party moving.

Bleu cheese dressing..

I was thinking about a place that made Bleu Cheese Burgers.
It went out of business years ago but I remember the place for the eight years they took off my life because I ate that stuff....

I come to the bar and look.....it's BLEU CHEESE!!

LOLOLOLOL

Ahem, Light's please!!!!!!!!!!!

Your bartender is officailly toasted tonight.

It only took 35 weeks and a few egg nogs....

I hope that all you LURKERS out there that don't have the "bits"
to stop in, will in 2004. Your life is not complete until you join us for one session and a visit to the Lost and Found.

I dare you!

And I love you all.

Baby Bottom?

Wrap that sucker in a Pamper and load it up.

Those are the real heroes in life.

They raise the sons who grow up and make life
complicated sometimes.....

But they ALWAYS stand by their kids.:)

Richard, happy new year!

If it's 10.30pm there, and it's 5.30pm the next day here, you're about 19 hours behind us. I didn't think the time zone was so big :) But fret not, you'll wake up to a sunny, clear day (damn shame I can't pick those lotto numbers a day ahead ... )

If your stocktake shows a few missing bottles of champagne, put them on my tab :)

No lotto numbers --but how's about that American football?

Go ahead. Don't worry about the tab.......Because you are the first patron at Thursday's, you have Carte Blanche.

Since you might catch the Rose Parade at some ungodly hour

Don't think that the weather is always perfect.

You'd have to find out for yourself.

I started to watch the celebrations at 11pm and here I am waking up at 1:45 on the couch. I see Richard's been in and gone. Oh well, I'll just turn off all the lights and lock up for the night. Gee I didn't even get a NYE kiss......:(

Should old acquaintance be forgot.....
La la la la la la la

Sleep tight everyone. May 2004 bless you with good health and happiness.

WELL DANG! How could I have missed the whole party?? Maybe after reading Richards "out with the old" I thought I was barred ("barred" get it? hahahaha) Got off work early and couldn't get back on the 'puter until this a.m. Had/have fire going since last night and when alarm went off at 5 (alarm meaning the dogs) I went into the living room thinking I had to go to work and there sat my son & his best friend Craig still playing cards (since last night:eek: ) and Ken (son) said "MOM, you don't have to go to work today.. come sit by the fire" I did. ahhhhh. I like babies bottoms almost as much as puppy bellies. I'll have one of each, or two. Hair of the dog anyone? I'll pour. Gini, where is that recipe of Pam's for those cookies? Wonderful, gentle wishes to everyone for this next year.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
I can't believe our weather. Yesterday it was dark and snowing all day long and this morning the beautiful blue sky is only showing a few fluffy white clouds with a reddish glow. Well, that's the west coast for you.

Did everyone have a good time last night??? You all need to check in and report. Where's Gini??? I know she went out last night....but did she return???????

Thanks for putting on the coffee amoore. I guess it's officially Thursday so the REAL party can get started. I'll just tidy up a bit around here and be right back.

I forgot to mention what I'm cooking back here in the kitchen today! OK, maybe it's a "Southern Thang" but we must have blackeyed peas for good luck. Always on New Years day. So I'm fixing up a large pork roast (with saurkraut for Jenny & I) and a pot of buttery, garlicky blackeyed peas and corn bread. I'll fix up some other greens for those that need it but we must eat at least ONE blackeyed pea for good luck. Ain't nothin' but a thing.. By the way Richard, that DOTD was verrry yummy!

Well, I did it again this year. Slept through the new year celebration. I guess I've hit an age where it isn't that big of a deal. I was up at around 12:30 when the Molly o'clock went off. She had to potty, so everyone went out in shifts. You know three out, one in, two out, one in, one out - gets really crazy. I have to count to make sure I have them all in before I go back to bed.

But the interesting thing. One of our neighbors was shooting off a rifle/shotgun at 12:30 a.m. First I heard the howl of a coyote, then the shot, then the squawking of the canadian geese on the pond down the road. Definitely different than fireworks - weirder too. Must be them country folks celebrating.

Christmas Cookie Ingredients:

1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequilla

Sample the Cuervo to check quality.
Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo
again, to be sure it is of the highest
quality, pour one level cup and drink.

Turn on the electric mixer...Beat one
cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.

Add one teaspoon of sugar...Beat again.
At this point it's best to make sure the
Cuervo is still OK, try another cup ...
just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2
leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in
the cup of dried fruit, Pick the
frigging fruit off floor... Mix on the
turner. If the fried druit gets stuck
in the beaterers just pry it loose with
a drewscriver. Sample the Cuervo to
check for tonsisticity.

Next, sift two cups of salt, or something.
Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon
juice and strain your nuts. Add one
table. Add a spoon of sugar, or
somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash
the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees
and try not to fall over. Don't forget
to beat off the turner. Finally, throw
the bowl through the window, finish the
Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the
dishwasher.

Pull up a chair Slick, I've enough pork roast & side dishes for us all. Let's eat well and get a good nights sleep. Is it just me? Does anyone else get depressed talking to their kid ?

Does anyone else do black eyed peas for new years? The casheir told a funny, because a woman was buying blackeyed peas. She said a customer said she put dried blackeyed peas in her wallet because it would give you the luck of always having money in your wallet! Said the woman said she had done that for two years and seem to have more money and believed it was the luck of the blackeyed peas.

Well, I better get to bed. I got to go and buy some dried blackeyed peas in the morning.

I hope someone is still here. I had a very lazy day. My son left at noon to go play pool with his uncles and new brother(in-law soon) Tim and I went got groceries and a couple movies. Then vegged in front of the tv . not something we do often. We wanted to beat the strom coming in. Since noon (11:30 now)
we have had 9 inches of snow , but its drifting I have a 4ft drift behind my car.
thankfully the kids all decided they didn't have enough cash to go play pool, so my 2 played video games and the kid is spending the night at my daughters house. Gives me lots of time to pack for my business dinner in Missoula tommorrow , glad hubby is driving they are expecting more strom in the afternoon. we hope to make it there between stroms. It's about a 2 hour drive.
Poor Merlin had to have Lady brake the snow path to do his outie tonight. the snow has him hidden . Good thing we have that big goofy newfy, or Merlin would have me out shoveling a path for him.

PLEASE DRINK A TOAST TO MY AUNT MARY!!!

I got word last night that my mother's oldest sister, Mary passed away yesterday morning. She had been in a nursing home for about a year and hated it. She had Alzheimer's and no longer remembered anyone. I wasn't real close to her but she would have been my guardian if the need had risen. No one loved cocktail hour more than my Aunt Mary. I want to celebrate her life, not mourn her passing. She would love having a round drank in her honor.

(raises glass of white grape juice)
Aunt Mary, thank you for volunteering to help raise me and my brother if needed. Luckily, for your sanity, the need never arose. Never the less, I am grateful you and Uncle Sam were there and willing. I know there is a big party in Heaven right now and you are being reunited with all the family. I wish we had been closer. Give everyone a big kiss from me. Thanks for being my aunt! I'll see you again someday! Oh, and feel free to pet any of my critters that stray your way! They would love it!

Hi everyone - happy day after new years. On New Years day we had six inches of snow (which is a lot for us) - it was so pretty - but now its turning to slush - at least the roads are clear today.

No wild NYE here - we did torch the tree as promised, and lit off some really nice illegal fire works. I almost didn't make it - I was starting to fade around 9:30pm and the thought of going to bed right then was really tempting, but I managed to hold on.

What's with these cookies? - they're kind of salty and it looks like someone tried to scrape off the burned parts of them - something my mom used to always do to toast. You would think that a woman capable of raising five children would have been capable of making toast without burning it.;)

MOFF - speaking of toast, a toast to your aunt Mary - she is in a better place now, with all of her memories once again intact.

ATTENTION!!

Anything that you would like to get rid of, please feel free to put in the L & F before April 1st. It will be sold on April 1st. to bolster the ongoing funds to keep Thursdays up and running.

OK, I'm expert at holding garage sales because I coordinate one every year for the Humane Society.

Now here's what we need:

Tables
Price tags and pens
A place to set up the tables
fanny packs with floats in each one
Volunteers to man the tables
Volunteers to price the items
Volunteers to weed out the junk from the saleable stuff
Vounteers to help set up
Volunteers to take down and put away tables
....the list goes on and on

And people if you are donating clothing, please wash them first. No underlythingies allowed.

Well, that about sums that up - we may as well forget the whole thing before we go to a lot of trouble.

Do you REALLY think that there is anything worth selling in the L & F?:D

Sure. I saw some umbrellas in there along with some pretty good-looking shoes. There's also some coats and sweaters as well.

There is also some pretty tacky looking costumes and we should decide if we are going to keep them or not. Maybe they can be used again for another theme. Richard's grass skirt and coconuts that he used for the Hawaiian theme for instance :D :D

Tray, don't you mind honey - it is very easy to get confused at Thursdays! We won't leave you behind (behind who?) (behind what?)

Slick, you are right, it has been so long since I have been in there I completely forgot about the coconuts. Wow, don't sell those!

Catch y'all on the flip side. Be good now. I'm sure Richard will be checking in, and will someone please sweep up all those cookie crumbs??? Thanks. I'll be back in the morning to do major cleanup.
