I frequently make a 2-hour trip in the car with Marley, and I am looking for a carrier that will keep him comfy and safe during the ride.

The hard-sided Pet Taxi ones are just too well, hard, and bulky for me to manage, as the vet said he needed one big enough that he could sit, lay, stand, and turn around in.

I was thinking of getting something like this:

I have a small airline-approved soft-sided carrier that I use for short vet trips, but I was thinking I could set up the portable home in the back of the car, them bring Marley out in the small carrier and get him settled into it once inside.

What do you think? Is that a good option?

It depends on your cat. I have one of those, but a cat determined to get out of a carrier could ruin a soft-sided type. A calm cat would do well with it. And it also depends on the weight of the cat. A heavy cats needs a STURDY carrier. ;)

I put a towel in our hard sided/top carriers. Kids are pretty comfortable. I agree a more active kitty in soft side carrier could be a disaster.
