There are 42 rabbits at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter in Northern Virginia, who came from a collector. 21 babies, 21 adults, mostly female, some may be pregnant already as the males are unneutered. Many of them are Dutch, or Dutch mix. We're trying to help as best we can, but are already swamped. Can anyone help, please, take any? We've been told we have until Saturday after which they will begin to euthanize them. Please cross-post this on as many lists as possible as well. The shelter works with local rabbit rescue groups.
Thanks a lot, Vineeta Anand

I've desperately wanted a bunny (or two) ever since I "met" Zippy-Kats' Ms Sophie. I just don't think that with half dozen dogs and 5 cats it would be a wise thing. I'm not far away from there so let me see if I can find some local hope. Sure wish I had more time though, most folks won't be back to work until Monday :(

This is very distressing, and now too late. These collectors cause as much pain and suffering as neglect, abandonment and abuse cases......

I hope you sent out emails to other sites besides here. There is a loose group of such rescue organization and we exchange info like this all the time. Let me get in touch with my executive director and get some web addys for the next time something like this happens.

We've taken rabbits from Rhode Island, New Jersey, Penna.,
Ill., IN, OH, a research lab in Boston and California.
