Just wanted to share a Christmas eve picture:

He's on a box that has him about 8" (20 cm) off the floor. He loves it!

What a great pic! That could be on a greeting card. When I was little, we had a Siamese that loved sitting on top of the tv. Her tail would hang over onto the front. Was funny watching tv with a cat tail in the middle.

Oh so cozy!!! I wish I had taken one of Emily last night. She was sprawled out on top of the Buckstove while it was still warm and toasty. That was such a sweet picture you posted!!:)

dukedogsmom, thanks for reminding me. Back in the early 1960s we had a Packard-Bell color TV that had an enormous amount of tubes in it - and consumed about 400 watts while running. Our family cat, Frosty (1959 - 1980), slept on the TV every evening. For her it was as good as a fireplace! When we shut it off and went to bed, she stayed on the TV until the case cooled and then she would decide who she was going to sleep with. She'd then be under the covers snuggled up. She was a great companion and lived a long, healthy life.

The picture was taken with a digital camera without the flash just using the fire for light. It turned out infinitely better than I ever expected although the first one I took he had his eyes closed but I jiggled the camera and it was out of focus - slow shutter without a flash. I just didn't want to wash out the softness with a flash!

I have since had the image printed as a 5x7 (127 x 178 mm) giclee (pronounced "gee-clay" with a soft "g") print. The process uses watercolor type ink and water color paper on an Iris printer to produce a soft-finished photographic image with the lifetime of any watercolor painting. I like having a photogenic pet!

I'm confused! Abycat Alice has posted the same picture over in Richard's thread under Cat General, topic Pyromania, and here is her comment:

Nice photo!
Check out this great picture of the Abyssinian Dante who loves the fireplace too:

This is Dante rather than Mango. He's an eight year old rescue Ruddy Abyssinian my sister adopted. He was found on the street begging for food and was in pretty bad shape, thin with lots of fleas. We nursed him back to health while he lived with Mango and the family then we found a good home for him. Fortunately he's with my sister so I get to see him regularly and he's sort of my cat too - I'm very attached to him. He is the most loving, gentle, trusting and loyal cat you could ever ask for. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm sorry Richard. I wasn't being clear. I was confused as to the abyssinian by the fireplace and posted the link to your thread. Now I have everyone confused. :) Of course Edward D. Katz is well known in my family. Andy considers him a half brother of sorts. :)

Pam,
When I saw the nice photo of Richard’s cat by the fireplace I remembered this thread of the Aby Dante originally posted by Randy_K.
I'm sorry I made you confused.

Here's a pic of my own Abyssinian Costello:
