Well, it is Thursday in Australia, so time to open the bar! I let the haz-mat guy go home - all those little trees in the L&F have really done the trick.

We might need a special drink for those of us who haven't started our Christmas shopping yet and who still have cards to mail out.

Richard - what kind of drink would be a proscrastator's special?

RICHARD

You get an "A" and a drink..

DONE!

A message to the patrons.

You know I feel real bad about shutting down the
'bar' last week....

I just could not believe all the posts last week!
It was weighing on my mind that people's orders might get lost in the shuffle.....

I hope everyone understands.....

SO, FOR THIS WEEK, LET THE GAMES BEGIN.....

DotD please!!

And how 'bout a Saddam joke to get things started...

It has been reported that Saddam Hussain was captured this morning by US Special
Forces. The Ace of spades was found in a small spider hole near Tikrit

When asked how they found him it was explained that moments earlier United
States war planes had sprayed liquid Viagra across the area, and the little
prick just popped up.

Oh thank goodness for Thursdays! I think I'll have a warm cider with a shot of whiskey. I slept bad last night so my neck is pretty stiff. Hoping a hot toddy will relax it a bit.

Well, I've been eye-balling this thread and sooo tempted to post but after last week, I was afraid to. You know, it's the old potato chip syndrome.....you can't post just once :D So here I go for another week and I promise to be good, Richard.

Work has not been good this week so far so I really need a good back massage but I know that's not available here. I'm the only one in my department now until January so things are really hectic, but I can always find time to stop in here.

A DOTD please, then I'll shut up. ;)

Can you do that for me Richard?;)

Hello everyone! Richard, I could use a DoD. One more day this week and then I'm off for 3 days.

Congrats Zippy-kat!!!! :D :D :D :D

I just thought I'd tell everyone since I've started coming to the bar, you all really lift my spirits every week. It's a place to be silly and relax. Funny, I feel comfortable here. Of course, I've been told many times that I'm silly - maybe that's why.

So in honor of all the nice people who stop every week to lighten one anothers mood, I'll buy the next round. And a toast "To friends near and far - Bless You and Happy Holidays to all!"

Now about those Haz-Mat guys? Are they coming back and if they do, do we get to keep them this time? :o

Ok Zippy, I'm soooo jealous. I was pulling a 3.99999 until my final tonight. I totally bombed it. It was like they handed me the test for a different class. I can't imagine how anyone in my class is going to pass this because it had questions on things that we didn't even cover in class - how can that be? I'm going to write a note to the professor to let him know how disapointed I am, but I'm already over it and I'm not going to let it ruin my Christmas vacation.

Congratualtions on your 4.0 Zippy! That's fantastic!!!! It's a lot of hard work and I know you deserve it. I think we need some pics of K'Cee and Piper to celebrate. ;) :D

Richard, I'll take whatever you've got that's really strong and keep em coming every 15 minutes until I pass out, and every 5 minutes after that. (ok, so I'm not totally over it yet - I'm sooooo disappointed) :(

Oh Zip - in my book you have always been a 10.00 so a 4.0 doesn't surprise me at all.

Let's hear a round of applause for our very favorite lady.!!

A round of whatever you would like is on me.!! For everyone!

For me - it is only Wednesday night - so a nightcap would be good.

Slick, get your buns back on here with your humor, please!!

Let us all try to be considerate of our excellent bartender, Richard.

He is very patient and accommodating, but has this day job that sometimes interferes with tending his bar.

I sure hope that Santa fills everyone's stocking with all that they dream of becoming.

Congratulations on the 4.0 Zippy (I know how hard those are to get)!!!!

T&P's Mom, don't worry, if you had problems with the exam it is highly likely everyone had problems with it. That is why they invented "curving the grade" ;)

It has been a while since I have been here, but Richard I want a DoTD in celebration that school is DONE for the term!!!

Richard, I'm up for something......maybe not the DOTD, but something that fits me.......(you know the routine, no coconut, no dark liquor, etc). I need that "pep me up" sort of drink that only you know how ot make. :)

Lots going on around here, job wise, personally, etc, but one thing we can celebrate is that Scott and I have our first anniversary on Sunday!!! :) And I also want to propose a toast to Tonya, with that 4.0!!!! Good job, girl!!! :)

Thanks. :) I was thinking the same thing and hoping there might just be some kind of curve involved. I looked over everything again today and there was no way I could have been prepared for the test we got. Even the study guide the teacher gave us didn't cover most of the stuff that was on the test. I sent a note off to the Prof. to let him know how disappointed I am, but that's that. Time to move on...

I'll have what Logan's having to help her celebrate the big 1! Congratulations Logan!!! :D

And the song for the day is..........

Everybody sing..........

WEB ADDICTION HOLIDAY SING ALONG!

(Sung to the tune of "Winter Wonderland")

Doorbell rings, I'm not list'nin',
From my mouth, drool is glist'nin',
I'm happy -- although
My boss let me go --
Happily addicted to the Web.
All night long, I sit clicking,
Unaware time is ticking,
There's beard on my cheek,
Same clothes for a week,
Happily addicted to the Web!

Friends come by; they shake me, Saying, "Yo, man!
Don't you know tonight's the senior prom?"
With a listless shrug, I mutter "No, man;
I just discovered laugh-a-lot-dot-com!"
I don't phone, don't send faxes,
Don't go out, don't pay taxes,
Who cares if someday
They drag me away?
I'm happily addicted to the Web!

Happ-ilyyyyy, ad-dict-eeeed to the Weeeeeb!!! (Yeah!)

Edit at 12 Noon: Looks like I'm the only one here today so I guess I'll just fix myself a Painless. Maybe it will make the painful work day go away.

Early on, someone said something about fixing a drink for procrastinators. I’ve been meaning to get back in here at Dick's place all day to find out more about it but kept putting it off  Nice song Slick. I'd join in but already am in trouble today for "not having my priorities straight" from my rotten boss. I took a few days off when my D-in-law was thought to have cancer but instead had half her insides taken out and is still on the IV three times a day. My dog had the nerve to die in my arms before I left for work a few weeks ago so I took off work then. Some damned 150 yr old tree had the nerve to fall across my yead onto the mini-van, block off my street, take all the poles and electric wires down in the middle of a hurricane so silly me took a day off then too. Sorry Marlene, I think MY priorities ARE straight. (it's hers I question). Sorry gang... I've been storing that up since she reamed me out first thing this morning. A few other people are off today and that seemed to set her off. I was here so got the "treatment"

Now we can all sympathize and hope that the day gets better for you.

OMG - I had no idea everyone was waiting here. I took the morning off to go get my Christmas tree and am now just catching up.

lb - one double painless for you. Amazing how insensitive some people can be.

Mo-mo - one super duper cherry vanilla coke for you .

Moos - one martini - extra olives for you.

Logan - hmm - I'm a bit stumped, I'm not nearly as creative as Richard - how about a Pointsettia - they were a big hit a couple of week's ago, just ask Slick.

Mugs - one diet cherry coke for you.

T&P - I know how you feel. I once had an essay exam that required us to compare and contrast two articles from our reading assignments - but we were never assigned one of the articles! You should have seen me tap dance through that essay - I deserved an A in creative writing.

emily - its always great to be done with another term. one DOTD for you.

Zip - CONGRATS - that's a major acomplishment - something I managed a few times in high-school but never pulled off in college.

Dogz - great sig.

have I missed anyone?

Just so you'll know, Gini, Scott has a great "secret"' mission in his plans. We're leaving at 8:30 Saturday morning. I have been instructed to wear "comfortable" shoes, but not tennis shoes, and that I need clothes to "dress up" for Saturday evening. We will return home on Sunday evening! :)

What does he have up his sleeve???? The only thing I can think of that I have mentioned to him in the past, is that I have never toured Biltmore Estate, in Asheville, NC. If we are going there, I will be thrilled!! Christmas at Biltmore will be wonderful!! Of course, he may have something totally different in mind and that's ok too!!! I just am happy that he is planning a surprise for our anniversary! :)

gini
12-18-2003, 03:41 PM
Logan, you deserve whatever wonderful surprise Scott has planned!

If it is the Biltmore, please tell us all about it. I have always wanted to go there.

You will have to tell us if they have "Poinsettia" drinks:D :D

I think Slick, Laurie and I will need one of those by the end of the day!

Look, Richard is storing boxes under the pool table now. Guess we can't hide there anymore!

1:45pm here on the West Coast and I just finished my Mac & Cheese for lunch and finally had a chance to read this thread from the beginning.

Tonya: I only graduated high school but did not do any college or university so I admit to not knowing what 4.0 means but judging from everyone's reactions, I understand that it's a good thing. Congrats!!

Laurie: sorry things have been rough for you. Work is not going well for me either, but at least my boss is away so I can play when I get the chance. Besides, I'm in IT. If my coworkers don't like it, then all of the sudden the email might go down....:D

Gini: thanks for coming to get me. I need a push every now and then.

MOFF: I think Santa was here this morning, but don't know where he is now. There is a lineup forming for him. Anyone what to be the photographer??

2K: good luck on the job interview. Let us know how it goes.

Nice to see everyone else here. Now can I please get another DOTD?? I've got my list ready for Santa, whenever he gets back.

catland
12-18-2003, 03:52 PM
Slick - a DOTD for you. Done.

now, a blonde joke:

A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started."

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"

The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger."

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger."

He takes her hand and says, "Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of hot chocolate, and then....." he sighed, "let's put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box."

----------------------------------

Logan - how fun, what ever it is, have a great time.

ho ho ho ho!!

Santa did a stupid thing last night.........

He locked his keys in the truck.....He usually hides an Extra in the turn signal so he just need to find a phillips screwdriver
and pop off the lense to get to the spare...He hit something on the freeway and broke the lens!!! So he kept the extra in the ashtray and his primary set of keys in the ignition.

And locked the door.....But thank god santa keeps a spare in his office!! So I had to bum a sleigh ride there and back....Now I can relax....

HO HO HO!!!

Who wants to sit on Santa's lap and tell him what they want for Xmas????

HO HO HO! NOT ME!
I've been scared of Santa since I was a little kid. Santa and Nuns both scare the stuffing out of me. (I got scared of nuns when I was 4 and had my tonsils out. We have a catholic hospital. The nuns wore white. I had a tramatic time with the either and somehow thought the nuns were ghosts. Nothing personal... it just stuck with me. Nuns in any color but white are fine with me!):D

Well I'm glad to see the regulars are here at Dicks. I finally got the photos from my demo yesterday. I have my bunny Wee One in my arms he's 14 years old. The gal in the red and white sweater is one of the chldrens libarians. Hope you all enjoy it.

Wow, the place is jumping already!

I'll have a Painless please :)

Zippy and Logan: congratulations! :D Good luck, 2kitties. And Laurie, I hope your boss gets hit by the curse of a thousand angry shoppers when she does her Christmas shopping.

We just finished our Christmas shopping and you guys are lucky to be in the northern hemisphere cool weather. Here, all the teenybopper girls are doing the mall hopping thang in eeny weeny hipster pants - BUTT CRACKS ARE EVIL, EVIL THINGS AND SHOULD NOT BE SEEN, EVEN ON 14-YEAR-OLD GIRLS! :(

First and foremostest, THANK YOU guys for the compliments! :D I've been feeling pretty yuck lately--not sick yuck but depressed yuck. This has been a pick-me-up!

Santa, I would like cards for Christmas.... Visa, Master, Discover, whatever.... so long as the bill ships to YOUR name and address. ;)

This whole Santa thing reminds me ....
When my sis was little I had her talked into asking Santa to "pull her finger." She agreed (oh the fun of little kids!) but then Mom found out the plan and wouldn't let either one of us near Santa.
Alyssa finally threw a fit; Mom caved in but only after having sis promise she wouldn't ask him the finger "trick." Alyssa promised then promptly hopped up on Santa's lap and says, "YOU HAVE BAD BREATH!"
:D PRICELESS! :D

Nicole, sure those girls aren't apprenticing for a plumber? eek!

Well, if you want to know, I was poking and shaking the boxes under the pool table and Richard caught me and kicked me out of the bar. Darn, I hate when that happens.

And a couple of our other patrons (fellow instigators) had terrible days at work and just weren't up to having fun.

Yes folks, it has been a rough week in Slickville and I've not had the time to have as much fun as usual. To top it all off, I was on my computer at home the other night with a glass of water and who come plunking on the keyboard but Max and tipped the water all over the keyboard. Needless to say, it's fried. I've dug another one out from inventory here at work (shhhhh......don't tell anyone.....being in IT does have it's advantages) so I'll hook it up tonight and be back in business. (But at least I still have my car keys....:D :D)

I know the bar is closing sometime today so before it does I think I would like Richard to stir up a pitcher of slushies. Any chance??? I just want to sample what's in store for next July.:)

I think Gini is having another BBQ. More details to come in January, and this time, I'm there with bells on.

lbaker
12-19-2003, 01:11 PM
Jingle bells Slick? Let's all wear bells in July and reeeeeeeally give Gini's neighbors something to talk about :D

gini
12-19-2003, 01:17 PM
Oh Slick, are you going to wear those bells again? Boy, they make such a racket!!

Miss Tonya - you betcha - latter part of July - like third weekend, THE SECOND ANNUAL CALIFORNIA BBQ will be held.

I will post in January with a firm date - figured seven months in advance would allow people to scout out good/cheap airfares. It would be great if you could come - and bring that 4.0 with you:D

There's Laurie, hogging the pitcher again. It really is Richard's fault - his slushies are pretty darn good.

Ooops, here he comes, I gotta hide - he was angry I was fooling around with the packages under the pool table.:D

Sorry for checking in so late everyone. My company's Christmas - I mean holiday party is this afternoon and I somehow agreed to be the decorating committee.

Well, back downstairs for me. Santa - by the time I'm done this afternoon, I'm going to need something really, really strong (we don't serve alcohol at company events).

I hope to check in later -

until then

Talk about having a bad day at work....I was hoping it would be an easy day since I'm off all next week (Yippeee, warm weather here we come!!!) but of course by boss had other ideas.

So I'll take one of those slushies Richard. I feel kinda green right now since the holiday packages started arriving. Started my day with too much toffee, moved on to too much popcorn (you know, the triple flavor stuff in the big tin) and then completed the gorge on some of Carol's Cookies. If you've never heard of Carol's Cookies (http://www.carolscookies.com) click and check them out. And she's not kidding when she says that 1 cookie weighs 1/2 lb!  I only had one and I can't even finish it - total sugar overload. So I'm feeling a little green around the gills right now, so I figured a slushie would be the perfect topper. :p :p

This will probably be the last time I check in, so hope everybody has a great Christmas and we'll see you next year on New Years Day!

A funny to end with.
